II  The Beatles: Music and Recording



 
 

     In this section you will have the opportunity to borrow Beatle albums from your favorite Beatle fan (if you don't own them already!) and listen to the world's best rock 'n roll band!!!  Listen to this!!!  Sit back, relax and absorb the best music made in the 20th Century!  Your mission is to learn all you can about the music that made The Beatles famous.  Find out why their music has withstood the test of time.  And, share your experiences with another Beatlemaniac!  Also learn about what was happening in the world when this music was released and how it has influenced generations of listeners.  Be sure to keep a record of all of the URL's you visit.  You will be glad you did!
     And, if you haven't learned enough about this subject by completing all of the activities in Unit 2, please feel free to participate in the extra WebQuest project to earn bonus points.

Assignment #1   Select ANY (Choice) nine Beatle songs and listen to them.  Be sure to keep a list of the songs and the albums on which you found the songs. Then write at least five grammatically correct sentences for each song detailing what you liked, disliked, or remembered about each song.

Assignment #2 Choice #3 Draw a picture of a character in ANY of the nine Beatle songs you listened to in Assignment #1 using any software you have available. Or, you may draw the picture and scan it.  If you don't have any software available you may try to create a rough sketch by using Paint Shop Pro, which is available for a free download for thirty days.  Click on the link below to download the software.

Assignment #3 Choice #1  Using the information you find at the Web site This Day in History, find at least one historical event that happened in the year the albums were released for all those you used to listen to your songs.  Keep a record of the URL(s) you used to look up the various historical events.
