Graphics
Let's say you are out browsing the Web and you see a terrific graphic.  The first thing you should do is write to the owner of the page and ask for permission to use the picture.  If you explain in your E-mail to them that you are using this for education and a personal Web site, they usually will grant you permission.  If you don't get permission and use the graphic anyway, you are violating copyright law.  So, be sure you have permission to use a graphic before you add it to your Web site.

After you are granted permission you may follow these steps to save a graphic to a floppy disc or in a common folder on your hard drive.  Remember, graphic files are large, therefore only a few might fit on a floppy disc.
  • Step 1.  Locate the graphic you want to use.
  • Step 2.  Right click on the graphic.
  • Step 3.  You will see a drop down menu pop up.
  • Step 4.  Highligt "Save image as" and click this highlighted area with the left mouse button.
  • Step 5.  The "Save as" screen will then pop up.
  • Step 6.  Select the drive ( a: for floppy discs, c: for your hard drive-be sure to save it in the same folder where you stored all of your work).
  • Step 7.  At this step you can either rename the graphic file if you wish or you can keep the name that showed up in the window.  If you do rename it, keep the same file extension.
  • Step 8.  Click on save.
YOUR NEW GRAPHIC IS NOW SAVED TO THE DESTINATION YOU SELECTED.

You can also get graphics from many clip art Web pages that let you use backgrounds and clip art free.  Check out this Web site if you are looking for free graphics.
