Dr. Cesar G. Demayo
CESAR is the third of the six children of Sulpicio Rendon Demayo and
Soledad Arguilles Guinanao of Iloilo City, Philippines.

He finished with honors in his elementary education from Buug Pilot School.
His secondary education was spent at the Mindanao State University High School
where he graduated salutatorian and recipient of the best in science, History and
Filipino awards. His collegiate years were spent at MSU-Marawi on a full
scholarship grant. He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Biology
after four long years of hardwork.

After graduation in college, he was hired as faculty of the Department of
Biological Sciences at MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). He served the
institute for four semesters and decided to pursue post graduate studies at the
University of the Philippines Los Banos. He finished the degree of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Genetics in 1986 and 1990, respectively. He pursued the degrees as a recipient of the National Science Develoment Board Scholarship, the MSU-IIT faculty scholarship, the UP Los Banos faculty development fellowship, and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) staff development fellowship.

Right after he acquired his Ph.D. in Genetics, he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at IRRI. It was during his stint at IRRI that he was given recognitions/awards for his work in genetics and entomology  by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Pest Management Council of the Philippines (PMCP), Philippine Association of Entomologists, Inc. (PAE), UP Los Banos, and IRRI. He also served as consultant of the DOST-DECS-EAC intensive science education program.

Being fascinated with the complexities of insects like himself, the fear of acquiring the "brain atrophy" disease and not being contented in doing an 8-5 job, he decided to go back to school and pursue the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Entomology.

At present, he is connected with MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology as Full Professsor of Genetics and Entomology. It was in this institution where his talent in teaching gained recognition from his students as well as the administration by conferring to him the "Outstanding Teacher Award" in 1997.

Even then, he still cannot accept the idea of being with the same person for the rest of one's life.........
