2 Tim 3:16 – All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
The indestructible word
- The Bible was written by about 40 different authors over a span of 1600 years. Imagine people telling a story over many years – there would be contradictions. – Bible contains no genuine contradictions – God chose Jews to record and guard his message to the world.
- The Bible contain detailed prophecies that where fulfilled exactly as described up to hundreds of years after those predictions were made. No one but God knows the future – Isaiah 46:10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.
- Civilization and culture have changed but one of the guidelines for living contained in the Bible are less effective now – surpasses all of mans wisdom.
- The writers of the Bible present themselves with all their faults and weakness – human history writers reveal themselves in the best of light.
- There are innumerable archaeological evidence providing the overall truthfulness of the historical accounts.
The high tech age
Worlds of travel and communication have advanced – jet planes crisscrossing the busy airports of the world – TV, telephones, cellular, internet makes anyone reachable anywhere in the world.
Medicine – open heart surgery, cloning, DNA structure, sex change
Machines – wash, freeze, mow, and shave, clean, cut polish teeth
Christian strength is still relevant – Bible has stood the test of time.
Christianity honours intellect more than any other faith.
Engineers, doctors, - great scientists have been and are ardent believers.
Scientific facts.
Many statements 1000 years ago are only now being verified….
The Bible contains many scientific facts through it was not written as a scientific text book. It is for the soul not body.
1. The idea of evolution is to reduce Jesus Christ to man without a mission on a wrong planet – if there is no sin then there is no need of salvation. No “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. John 3:16.
2. How could one family of Noah collect all the animals in the ark? – If God could cause the flood he could also make the animals goes to the ark. Genesis 6:20 – two of every kind will come to you. Noah did not go and get the animals. God did.
3. How could all those animals fit in the ark. – the bible talk of animals ie., there may be many species of doves but they are all doves. – the average size of different kinds (expect dinosaurs) is that of a sheep ( take up 1/3 of the room in the ark) leaving plenty of room for Noah, family and supply of food for an year.
4. What about dinosaurs? They were in the ark – but young dinos because most of their reproductive life is left, take less space and less food.
5. What about the discovery of fossils? – all land animals would be killed and it is evident to any on viewing our dwindling resources that an enormous layer of dead that becomes coal and oil was left at one time. They died at one time – if a rat died in the open it would not be fossilized. Blown by wind no full skeleton would be available. So there was a flood!!
6. Palaeontology – the Bible talks about dinosaurs Job 40:15 - Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
7. Astronomy – stars and sand – Genesis 22:17, Jeremiah 33: 22
8. Suspension of Earth in space – Job 26:7 - He hangeth the earth upon nothing.
9. Wind circulation – Ecclesiastes 1:6 - The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
10. Fluid dynamics – Job 28:25 - To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
11. Life is in the blood – Lev 17:11 - The life of the flesh is in the blood…
12. Biogenesis – generic codes – genesis 1:11,12 - God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind……
13. Chemical nature of Flesh – genesis 2:7 - LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground… & genesis 3:19
14. Mental and spiritual health – proverbs 12: 4, & 17:22 - A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones…
15. Anthropology – Cave men – Job 30:5, 6 - They were driven forth from among men... To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.
16. Hydrology – rain – Job 36:27-29 - For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof……
17. Recirculation of water – Ecclesiastes:1:7, Amos 5:8 - All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
18. Hydrothermal vents – Job 38:16 - Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
19. Foundation of the earth Jeremiah 31: 37 - Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath,….
20. Shape of the earth – Isaiah 40:22 - It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth,…
21. Nuclear process – 2peter 3:10 - ,… and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up…
