The Long Way Home
cgbaker99 ( this was my ode to Bayville )
As I grew and knew everything there was I set out to find a place of my own It had to be perfect if I'd only know So, I left the shore to take the long way home! I journeyed north till the aurora danced I enjoyed the show then turned to go Where else I was going I did not know know Like a wandering fool stumbling thru snow I climbed up a mountain, it's wind was so fierce It just about blew me off of its face, Ice crystals whirled a ring around the moon That place was cold and I was leaving soon... Baked in the desert, dusty and dry, The sugaro loomed up to the sky, I crouched in the shade whilst an eagle cried, I got out of there, I feared I might die... A wandering spiraling path I did roam Down in the green valley i search for my home I thought I belonged there amoung things that grow but I only grew restless and pressed on to go In the city I lingered, there was much to see and danger in shadows on the dark side of the street Too many echoes, surrounded by stone The chaotic noise made me ache for a home I found my home where the sea meets the shore Memories stirred like I'd been there before An Atlantean child raised on salt air I promised myself that I would stay there All that I wanted was easily in reach Our children now play with the waves on the beach I'm thanful my journey did not end up alone But it most certainly was the long way home!
