| Texas Sheet Cake
Ingredients: 2 cups flour 2 cups granulated sugar 1 cup (2 sticks) butter 1 cup water 5-6 Tbls cocoa � cup buttermilk 1 teas baking soda 2 eggs, lightly beaten 1 teas vanilla Directions: Grease and flour jelly roll pan. Combine flour and sugar in mixing bowl. In medium saucepan, heat butter, water and cocoa til boiling. Add to flour and sugar mixture. Blend together. Combine eggs, buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla. Add to cocoa mixture. Mix well. Pour into jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Frosting for Texas Sheet Cake Ingredients: � cup (1 stick) butter 3 Tbls cocoa 6 Tbls milk 1 lb. powdered sugar 1 teas vanilla 1 cups chopped nuts (optional) Directions: About five minutes before cake is done, heat to boiling the butter, cocoa and milk. Turn off the heat. Add to the mixture the powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Pour mixture over hot cake, spreading evenly. |
