Entertainment Teen Magazine, April 2000

For many teens, popularity is way important. After all, being popular means having access to all the cool parties, dating the most gorgeous guys/girls, and getting tons of attention. But in order to gain acceptance into crowd, many find themselves doing and saying things they usually wouldn't, and this is why Popular's Harrison John is so, well... popular. Although he's perfectly happy with his own crowd, the infatuation with Brooke McQueen and the attention he's been getting from Josh and Sugar have begun to cloud his judgment.

Like Harrison, Christopher Gorham also had a brush with the "in" crowd. He says, "...it really flip-flopped back and forth as to whether I was accepted or not. Largely it was because I was a really late bloomer. So, you know, in eighth grade I was popular. In ninth grade I was suddenly a geek again..." To his credit, Christopher decided to focus his attention on a special interest--in his case acting--rather than dwell on his supposed drop in rank.

Getting His Start

A native of Fresno, California, the now 25-year-old knew he wanted to be an actor when he was in the fourth grade. He landed the role of the Mad Hatter in his school play, Alice Through The Looking Glass, and ended up receiving the school's best actor award--something that was usually given to a sixth grader. He continued to involve himself in school plays, and by the time he reached the sixth grade, he was also doing dinner theater.

Acting throughout both junior and senior high schools (he attended the Roosevelt School of the Arts), Christopher set off for UCLA to continue studying acting and theater. It was there he met actress Anel Lopez Gorham. (Today, Anel can be seen on Popular as Poppy Fresh, a member of the cheerleading squad, and in Christopher's home as Mrs. Christopher Gorham, The two recently tied the knot.) But Christopher's college years provided not just a soul mate, but his first major TV role.

In 1994, Christopher landed a four-episode deal to play the role of Elliot, Sarah's "confused" boyfriend, on the Fox series, Party of Five. Two years later, he would receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater, Film and Television and go on to land the role of Walt opposite Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz in the hilarious flick A Life Less Ordinary. Christopher also made guest appearances on the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Spy Game before landing the role of Harrison on Popular. And with the way Harrison has already been received, Christopher can't wait for the reaction viewers will have to his story-line. He says, "It's going to be interesting to see how my character deals with getting popular. Then, when he immediately loses it, it will be even more interesting to see how he deals with that..." Could the Mac Caddy's days be limited? Stay tuned.
