History: Scott Summers was a man born to be a leader despite the handicaps set against him. He became the prodigy of Professor Charles Xavier, and Xavier, like a father to him. Scott became the very first X-man. As more X-men formed, he became their leader, eventually falling in love with team mate Jean Grey. The adventures that would follow would become the standard for the X-men's legacy.
Eventually tragedy befell the X-men in a Sentinel attack. Jean Grey was killed...
Scott's memory of The X-men and Xavier Institute was cleaned from his memory, as was their memory of him. Scott had fabricated for him a life of leadership. He was an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. The captain of an elite task force called The Red Guard, and specialized in covert operations, transports, acquisitions etc. The best of the best.
Recently Scott's been dreaming. Dreaming of a red headed woman he's never met before. Dreams so real they're like memories. He's begun to feel a pull, to feel like the life he has isn't real...
Special limitations: Due to a brain injury, Cyclops is unable to shut off his optic blasts at will and must therefore wear a visor or glasses with ruby quartz lenses that block the beams.
Equipment: The mask Cyclops wears to prevent random discharge is lined with powdered ruby quartz crystal. It incorporates two longitudinally mounted flat lenses which can lever inward providing a constantly variable exit slot of 0 inches to .79 inches in height and a constant width of 5.7 inches. The inverted clamshell mechanism is operated by a twin system of miniature electrical motors. As a safety factor their is a constant positive closing pressure provided by springs. The mask itself is made of high-impact cycolac plastic. There is an overriding finger-operated control mechanism on either side of the mask, and normal operation is through a flat micro-switch installed in the thumb of either glove.
