| Torturous Tony Sly made his CFWA debut as a guest referee at the inaugural CFWA show in December 1998 (Finals Free For All) and his in ring debut at May-Hem in May 1999. He is the most veteran active wrestler in the CFWA and has been quoted as saying that "he eats, sleeps, breathes, and shits the CFWA." Tony is an unabashed and to-the-point skateboarding punk who tells it like it is whenever he is on the mic. He refers to himself as the Punk Rock Hunk of Hardcore and his arrogant ways were not always endearing to the fans. Sly has partaken in some of the CFWA's most brutal matches and prides himself on his ability to innovate and incorporate "foreign objects" into his devastating wrestling moves. Tony Sly formed the Insubordination stable in January 2000 at Y2Kaos with The Diabolical Chuck Taylor and K-9 (collectively known as the tag team Citizen Pain) and together the three wrecked havoc on the CFWA as Sly captured the CFWA Heavyweight Title in February 2000 at Extreme Retribution when he defeated two-time CFWA Champion Sweet Daddy O' Joe Perry. Insubordination and Sly's reign ended at Excessive Force in April,2000. Since then, Sly has converted into a fan favorite and reformed Insubordination in January 2001 to counteract the injustices being perpetrated by Flex Appeal 2001 and became a two-time CFWA Heavyweight Champion in February 2001 when he defeated The Real Deal Dean Collins. Insubordination disbanded in April, 2001 after The Diabolical Chuck Taylor and K-9 left the CFWA and Ian McMurphy defeated Sly for the CFWA Heavyweight Title at Excessive Force on April 27, 2001 in a Triple Threat Match that also included The "Real Deal" Dean Collins. However, Sly shocked the CFWA by winning the title back the next night to become the federation's first three-time champion and ending Ian McMurphy's career (both wrestlers put their careers on the line in a pre-match stipulation) and arguably the greatest CFWA feud ever! In September, 2001 at Guilty as Sin, Sly turned his back on the CFWA and formed the Dynasty with then CFWA Tag Team Champions The Superstar Nick Best and "Attitude" Chris Ryan. However, Sly unexpected lost his CFWA Heavyweight Title the next month to Captain Parrot and went on a losing streak to the likes of The "Real Deal" Dean Collins and Brick, but tasted victory again at Hardcore Holi-Daze in December, 2001 against former Dynasty member Nick Best in probably the most controversial CFWA match ever. Sly and Dynasty teammate "Attitude" Chris Ryan began 2002 by winning the CFWA Tag Team Titles in February at New Year's Revolution only to lose them to The DON Mike Michaels and Matt McClaren at Rampage in March. The next month Sly defeated Captain Parrot in a brutal California Death Match to win an unprecedented fourth CFWA Heavyweight Title. However, Sly's reign was short lived because he lost the title to "The Real Deal" Dean Collins in a classic match that symbolized the passing of the torch because Sly retired after the match. |
