The real jive from the Real Deal for the week of Monday, Apr 9
This column is only the opinion of one wreslter.
Ya know, this last week brought some major excitement into the CFWA...some excitement that the CFWA needed for sure. We saw the return of "Beautiful" Brent Filmore on Friday night as he fought one of his best friends Adam Kage in a no contest match that saw two superior athletes battle it out. We saw "Attitude" Chris Ryan reclaim his commisionership, and Captain Parrot capture the Blackhawk county title. We saw the departure of one of the greats, "Diabolical" Chuck Taylor, as he lost probably the greatest hardcore match in the CFWA history. He even went as far as busting open his best friend, K-9. And we also saw "Torturous" Tony Sly defend his title two nights in a row...although I can't give him too much credit for that one considering his opponents.... But what I want to talk about is what happened to Flex Appeal this weekend, and what happened to "The Real Deal". This weekend saw "The Real Deal" Dean Collins, myself, square off against "The Irish Assassin" Ian McMurphy. McMurphy is the one that brought me into this sport exactly a year ago. The problem with Ian is his ego. His big mouth keeps him from being the talent that he could be. And in the end, it's what led me to beat him in the middle of that ring.....and that Ian, is reality. As far as I see it....Ian, it's one to one. Tie? I think not.... I beat you this last weekend in the middle of that ring, not with any help...but with my pure talent. Ian, we all know you're a Real Deal wannabee....but my friend, there is only one Real Deal....and only one guy that can dress as good as I can, look as good as I can, and wrestle as good as I can...and that's me. So that would make me the leader of Flex Appeal right? I don't think so. Flex Appeal is a group that was formed with the best in the federation at the time. But now that Kage is gone, and Ian's ego has gotten bigger than Godzilla, I figured it was time to move on. Flex Appeal isn't what it used to be. When I was in charge...it was a physical force noone could move. Now, without me, it's nothing. And there's nothing A-Bomb, Attitude, or McMurphy can do about it. But where does that leave me now? God knows I don't have too many friends out there....I've stabbed everyone in the back....well almost everyone. "Beautiful" Brent Filmore came to my aid Friday night. And Saturday night saw Adam Kage and myself rekindle a friendship after a match that could go into the category of one of the greatest in the history of the federation. If you were in the crowd that night, you would have heard the crowd cheering.....not for Ian McMurphy...not for Flex Appeal...hell, not even for Adam Kage. Three letters kept coming out of their mouths....T..R...D!! That's right, The Real Deal. I used to be the man people loved to hate, but after this weekend...maybe I've "seen the light" so to speak. To hear the fans cheer for me....that's what this sport is about. It's about people coming to have a good time....and having a hero. And now folks, you have your hero....you have The Real Deal to look up to. And in three weeks....your hero will come out the new World Champion as he faces Tony Sly and Ian McMurphy in a triple threat match. McMurphy, you already know how I feel. As far as I'm concerned, I proved I could beat you fare and square...and I'll do it again in three weeks. Sly, as far as I'm concerned, you can come out there...spit your water....shake a few hands....and try to convince yourself that you are the best man to hold that title. But I want you to listen...listen for the three little letters comin out of everyone's mouth that night....T...R..D....and I want you to realize that they, and I, believe that title should be on my waist. And in three weeks...it will be. And that, my friends, is reality!! And Chuck Taylor. We're gonna miss you. Good luck and take care.
