| -Coming up with topics to write about during the off-season is no easy task, so for the next three weeks I will preview the 2001-2002 CFWA season by highlighting the wrestlers in each of the three CFWA divisions. I will start this week with those in the Black Hawk County division: -Captain Parrot (Black Hawk County Champion): Like his arch-rival, "Attitude" Chris Ryan, Parrot's progression from non-wrestler to talented wrestler in the 2000-2001 season was quite impressive. His high-flying style is becoming quite effective, as was evident with his ability to stick with Brick in their hardcore match at Excessive Force in April. Parrot's talent will not limit him to the Black Hawk County division and it is likely that he will crossover and become a contender in the Tag Team and maybe even Heavyweight divisions. The Captain's feud with "Attitude" Chris Ryan is likely to continue and Parrot can count on having to defend his Black Hawk County Title against "Attitude" at some point in the near future, which will provide for some entertaining matches. -"Attitude" Chris Ryan: Chris Ryan went from timid CFWA Commissioner/commentator to "Attitude" Chris Ryan, the high-flying wrestler. He capped off a very successful year by capturing Tag Team gold with Nick Best and upsetting his rival The "Real Deal" Dean Collins at Excessive Force all in one night! Despite his small stature, BIG things are expected out of "Attitude" Chris Ryan in the 2001-2002 season. In addition to defending his CFWA Tag Team Title with Nick Best, "Attitude" will surely be gunning for Captain Parrot and his Black Hawk County Title and maybe even Torturous Tony Sly and his CFWA Heavyweight Title. -"Hardhead" Riff Harrison: Despite his size advantage and ability to take a beating, Riff Harrison had a disappointing rookie season in the CFWA. Bad luck, tough opponents, and sporadic action made it a tough year for the "Hardheaded One." Maybe a desertion of his hardcore ways is in the cards or a complete gimmick change altogether, but the bottom line is that Riff was definitely being held back by the "front office," and a change has to be made before he can truely shine in the CFWA and become a serious contender for the Black Hawk County Title. -"Shooter" Chet Hartwood: Although winless in his two CFWA matches, the "Shooter" definitely shows potential. His strong amateur background will be of help in climbing up the ladder in the CFWA. Also, being bigger and stronger than either Captain Parrot or "Attitude" Chris Ryan will definitely be a distinct advantage as Hartwood attempts to break into the win-column and earn a shot at the Black Hawk County Title. -Next week, I will profile the midcarders of the CFWA! -This past Monday at the NEW television taping, Torturous Tony Sly defeated Lost Angel to retain his NEW Television Title, BUT NEW Universal Champion The "Real Deal" Dean Collins was upset by Mike Michaels and lost the title. |
