| The "Mark" Report: May 7-14 The following is my list of the best of the best from the CFWA for the 2000-2001 season. I am guessing that there will be unintentional omissions, but I am only human. Best Promos of the Year: 1. Torturous Tony Sly's infamous "I Eat, Sleep, Breathe, and Shit the CFWA" promo at Extreme Retribution. 2. The Diabolical Chuck Taylor's farewell promo at Reckless Abandon. 3. The "Real Deal" Dean Collins, Adam Kage, and Ian McMurphy's "Creation of Flex Appeal 2001" promo at No Remorse. 4. Torturous Tony Sly's promo for his "Final Jeopardy" Match with Ian McMurphy at Excessive Force. 5. K-9' farewell promo at Excessive Force. Sickest Bump of the Year: 1. Nick Best's fall from 8 feet off of a ladder through 2 tables at Excessive Force. 2. Nick Best's sit-out powerbomb on Alias on the outside purple mat at Reckless Abandon. 3. Mark Marvel's plunge through a "table" on the outside purple mat from the top. 4. Alias' Diamond Cutter off the top on Nick Best at Halloween Hell. 5. Death Metal Ry's frogsplash onto A-Bomb from the top to the the outside purple mat. 6. K-9's Fame-Asser on The Diabolical Chuck Taylor, who had a chair across his face. 7. Ian McMurphy's faceplant of Torturous Tony sly on a desk at Hardcore Holi-Daze. 8. The Diabolical Chuck Taylor's missile drop kick from the ring to the outside on K-9 with a chair at Reckless Abandon. 9. Torturous Tony Sly's SoCal Driver on A-Bomb on a chair at New Year's Revolution. 10. The 45 lb. wooden ladder that fell on Torturous Tony Sly's chest at Extreme Retribution. Honorable Mention: All of A-Bomb's plunges off the top to the purple mat. Top Matches of the Year: 1. Ultimate Grudge Match: "Attitude" Chris Ryan def. The "Real Deal" Dean Collins (Excessive Force) 2. A-Bomb def. Death Metal Ry (Hardcore Holi-Daze) 3. CFWA Heavyweight Title Ladder Match: Torturous Tony Sly def. The "Real Deal" Dean Collins (Extreme Retribution) 4. A-Bomb def. Lost Angel (Extreme Retribution) 5. Ultimate Grudge Match: Ian McMurphy def. "Beautiful" Brent Filmore (Reckless Abandon) 6. CFWA Heavyweight Title Match: Ian McMurphy def Real Deal (Halloween Hell) 7. Cedar Falls Count Anywhere 2 out of 3 Falls Match: Torturous Tony Sly def. Ian McMurphy (No Remorse) 8. "Final Jeopardy" CFWA Heavyweight Title Match: Torturous Tony Sly def. Ian McMurphy (Excessive Force) 9. CFWA Tag Team Title Match: Ian McMurphy/Adam Kage def. Tony Sly/The Diabolical Chuck Taylor (Hardcore Holi-Daze) 10. CFWA Heavyweight Title Match: The "Real Deal" Dean Collins def. A-Bomb (Hardcore Holi-Daze) CFWA Rookie of the Year: "Attitude" Chris Ryan "Attitude" went from a lowly ring announcer/acting commissioner to the most hated character in CFWA history. Along the way, he has become a talented high flying wrestler in and out of the ring that is a former Black Hawk County Champion and one half of the current CFWA Tag Team Champions. Most Hated Wrestler of the Year: "Attitude" Chris Ryan Was this even a contest? Since turning on the fans at Hardcore Holi-Daze and joining Flex Appeal 2001, Commissioner "Attitude" Chris Ryan has become the wrestler that the fans love to hate. As of late, the fans particularly enjoy harassing "Attitude" about his part-time job at WalMart. Most Liked Wrestler of the Year: Captain Parrot Between feuding with the hated Flex Appeal 2001 and "Attitude" Chris Ryan, mocking the Undertaker, and riding to the ring on his "Harley," the Captain endeared himself to the fans enough to make him the most liked wrestler of the 2000-2001 season. Tag Team of the Year: Flex Appeal 2001 (Ian McMurphy and Adam Kage) They were without a doubt the most dominating tag team in the CFWA for the 2000-2001 season. They held the titles longer than anyone, approximately two months, and they had more title defenses than any other CFWA tag team in history. Wrestler of the Year: The "Real Deal" Dean Collins What can you say, he won the CFWA Tag Team Titles in only his second match ever and upset Torturous Tony Sly in only his second singles contest ever. He had more title defenses than any other CFWA Heavyweight Title reign in history and a stellar win-loss record the whole season. In short, he was "the man" in the CFWA this year! |
