Chuck's Story

Chuck3.gif (18.4k) My character, Chuck, is a custom class, "Mystic Blade" that's basically a Mage/Thief/Ninja with a longblade specialty. He's a high-elf, and I couldn't resist taking Critical Weakness: Paralysis. The following history is from memory, and it's written in a storytelling fashion, not for 100% correctness (I don't think he was able to afford both a horse & cart at the same time, but they were the first 2 things he bought). In the beginning (character history by Daggerfall)

Chuck's adventure began when he found himself shipwrecked in a cave. The equipment that had washed ashore with him was all worthless iron, but luckily for him, he still had the Emperor's gift from long ago -- the ebony dagger. With his dagger, and his wits, he overcame his first few opponents, finding some scraps of leather armor along the way. After a few close battles, his became more practiced in the use of his knife, and he won his way to the top of Privateer's Hold.

Chuck then set out immediately for Daggerfall. The locals there greeted him with suspicion, and the merchants cheated the naive elf viciously, but the townsfolk also warned him that the city was haunted. "This", he thought to himself, "I've got to see." So, staying out well past dark, he learned a valuable lesson -- Be Careful What You Wish For! He lived because he RAN!

The very next morning, Chuck took his meager pile of gold, and bought himself a horse, so that he would never have to worry about being able to outrun something again. And with the horse, he got a cart, so that his possessions (next time he had some) would not slow him down.

Chuck then went out in search for people who could use (and pay for!) his talents. The guildsmen at the Fighters Guild thought him a fool not to learn to use axes, hammers, and bows. "Wha're'ya gonna do when ya only sword gits broke?", they said... But he was an adequet swordsman, so he was taken in. At the Mages Guild, he was deemed a barely able apprentice, but they did not turn him away. For temples, this longtime agnostic was indecisive, unwilling to commit to any god.

...

Since those meager beginnings, Chuck has progressed, doing many quests for his guilds. After practicing some of his less-appoved-of skills, he was approached by & joined the Guild of Theives. And following he desire for knowledge and learning, he was eventually drawn to the School of Julianos.

Chuck has travelled the coast of the Illiac Bay from Daggerfall around to Sentinal, where he bought a house and a ship. However, when not undertaking a mission, he spends most of his time in the kingdom of Dwynnen, where the locals also worship Julianos. If it were not so far away from the political centers of the Bay, he would move there. Maybe someday, when he's ready to retire...

...

As his skills have improved, and his value to the guilds has been proven, he has been allowed access to some of the deeper mysteries of each guild -- the Spymaster, the Mage Smith & Temple Smith, and recently, the Holy Summoner & the Mystic Summoner. The ability to enchant items proved to be very helpful -- he now ponders what opportunities may unfold in the Summoner's chamber...

...

Nearly a year has passed since Chuck was first admitted to the Summoning chambers. He has bargined with many of the Daedra Princes - doing favors and being granted powerful items. Weeks and weeks of training and private study between quests have shown there worth, allowing him to master several of the mystic arts. With such advanced knowlegde and prowess, he has risen to Archmage, and is considered a Patriarch of Julianos. Few can now stand before him, and his array of spells provide powerful defenses against those that dare...
