| Chapter 33 |
| Seyona stared into the distance at the flowers that surrounded the courtyard from the pinic blanket she was sitting on. "I hope you enjoy the wine." Camus said happily, taking a sip from his glass. "Oh, yeah, it's good." Seyona stretched her legs out in front of her. "How long do I have to keep this up?" Camus stared at Seyona in shock then laughed heartily, "This is suppose to be relaxing." "Don't expect me to kiss you." "Not even thinking of such a thing." The red knight said, then held something out in front of her. "Sandwich?" Seyona eyed the tuna fish sandwich for a second, thinking how much she hated fish. But she took it anyway, and tried to put a smile on her face. She had to make this look good or else she'd never get that sword back. Camus took a bite of his own sandwich, and chewed thoughtfully for a moment. "We should go see a play tonight or something." Seyona stared at him. "You mean this date is going to be that long?" "Wellyeah." Camus ate the rest of his sandwich in one bite. "I'm a knightwhen I do something, I do it right." Seyona groaned inwardly, and took a bite of her sandwich, trying not to gag. Camus looked up at her and grinned. "Are you going to sit on that basket all day?" Seyona swallowed. "Where am I supposed to sit?" Camus patted the spot beside him. Seyona hesitated, then moved to the spot indicated. She sat uncomfortably, while Camus sifted through the picnic basket for something. He pulled out a piece of cake and a spoon, then sat back down. Seyona suddenly found herself with a spoon being shoved into her face. "Open wide." Camus sang. Seyona flushed in embarrassment, but obligingly let the guy feed her the bite of cake. She narrowed her eyes at the grinning knight as she chewed. She had no doubt he was trying to make this as bad as he possibly couldthe creep. She was opening her mouth to be fed another bite, wishing that this day would just end, when a shadow suddenly loomed over her. Curious, she looked up. "Whwhat are you doing?" A familiar face stared down at her, shocked. Seyona nearly choked on her cake. "RiRidleheim?" She gasped after catching her breath. Camus regarded the newcomer with mild annoyance. "Who are you to interrupt my lunch?" he demanded coolly. Seyona was gesturing wildly behind Camus for Ridleheim to go away, but the guy wasn't paying any attention. "You can eat all the lunch you want, but why do you have to eat it with her?" Ridleheim pointed to Seyona. Seyona slumped and looked at the sky. Why did guys have to be so clueless? "I'm eating lunch with her because her and I are on a date." Camus replied, smirking in obvious satisfaction at the shade of red that Ridleheim had turned. Seyona slapped her forehead in complete exasperation. "DDate?! Seyona, you can't go on a date with him!" Ridleheim exclaimed angrily. "WellI asked, and she said yes, so, therefore, she can." Camus retorted smugly. Ridleheim turned an even darker shade of red, and a vein appeared on his forehead. "That's it" Ridleheim pointed his staff at Camus, who suddenly started to look nervous. "I'm gonna blow that smirk right off your face! Fireba" He stopped when Seyona jumped between him and Camus. "Seyona, what are you doing? Get out of the way so I can smoke this guy!" "Ridleheim, stop! You don't even understand what's going on here, you're jumping to conclusions!" Seyona yelled. "I understand that my fianc is having lunch with another guy." Ridleheim said. "And that she's protecting him from me." Seyona sighed. "Ridleheim, you know I'm not really engaged to you" "I know that!" Ridleheim threw his hands up in the air. "I started remembering the moment I stepped foot inside that castle!" Seyona took a step back from the hurt expression that suddenly appeared on his face. "But I was going to ask you, when this whole thing was over" His voice caught in his throat. Seyona held her breath, waiting for him to catch his composure, not daring to believe he would say what he was about to say. "I was going to ask you to marry me." Ridleheim continued, putting a sad sort of expression on his face. "This time as Luc, and not as Ridleheim." Seyona's heart was pounding in her chest. This wasn't happeningit couldn't be happening. "But apparently, you never really liked me." Ridleheim's eyes were suddenly cold. "I can't believe I followed you and helped you out." He was almost disgusted. "I guess that's what I get for letting myself feel something for somebody." He turned away. "RiLuc, wait!" Seyona reached out to stop him, but it was too late, he'd already phased out of sight. "Damn." Seyona kicked the dirt. Behind her, Camus cleared his throat. Seyona turned to him with such an angry look in her eyes that the mighty knight actually cringed. "You!" She pointed at him accusingly. "This is all your fault!" She grabbed Camus by his collar. "You realize you just cost me my one chance of ever getting married, you worthless, slime covered excuse for a human being!" She was shaking him angrily now. "You owe me that sword now, you jerk!" Camus smiled nervously under the onslaught. "Ok, ok, I'll cancel our date, but you still have to keep the other part of the bargain." Seyona's eyes started to glow a menacing red, and Camus winced. Seyona was just about to yell at him some more when she heard a familiar voice. "Seyona!" Leli ran towards her friend, Chaco right on her heels. Seyona brightened and dropped Camus, who fell onto the picnic blanket, confused. "Leli, you're ok!" She embraced her friend. "I'm just glad you're alright." Leli grinned. "Have you seen Ridleheim? He broke us out of jail, then he disappeared." "He broke you out of jail?" Seyona looked dubious. "Both of you?" She glanced at Chaco, who looked a little more thoughtful than usual. "Yup." Leli threw her hands in the air. "He made it so we walked right through the jail barsit was cool!" Seyona didn't say anything to that. Noticing her friend's sad expression, Leli decided to change the subject. "So, did you get the sword?" "Almost." Seyona replied. "I just need you to do one thing for me before this idiot here will give it to us." She jerked a thumb toward Camus, who grinned and waved. "Ok." Leli chirped. "What do I have to do?" Seyona smirked and whispered in Leli's ear. Leli's face suddenly drained of all colour. "What?!" she stepped backwards in horror. "There's no way I'm gonna do that!" Seyona shrugged. "It's either that or go back empty handed and get kicked out of the castle." Leli looked undecided. "Buthe's a psychoI don't want to go on a date with a psychowhat if he tries something?" "He can't be that bad." Seyona scoffed. "And Camus assures me he's a perfect gentleman" Leli was flabberghasted. "You weren't in that bath house with him!" she started to flush. "I tell you the guy's a psycho!" Seyona gave her a knowing look and Leli slumped in defeat. "Ok, fine, but if I end up dead I'm going to be very angry." Seyona only smiled. |
