| Chapter 18 |
| Highway Village, as it turned out, was just to Seyona's liking. Quiet and small, she felt more relaxed walking down it's streets than she had in a very long time. She almost forgot about all the troubles she had in her life. Almost. "Taaaart..." Chaco whined. "Let's go already." The young Winger in question was currently trying to drag a drooling Leli from the window of a bakery shop. Leli, however, paid him no heed, completely mesmerized by the pastries, cakes, muffins and other assorted sweet baked goods. Seyona couldn't help, but grin at her friend's antics. "Chaco, come over here!" She called to the Winger. Chaco pulled once more on Leli's arm, waved a hand at her in annoyance and ran to Seyona. "Here." Seyona handed him a handful of money. "Go into that store and buy Leli some of those sweets she loves so much." Chaco looked at her confused for a moment. "Just...her and I?" "Yup." Seyona grinned. "I have some things to take care of." Chaco let a small smile cross his face, then he rushed over to Leli, showing her the money and letting himself be dragged into the store by Leli. Seyona chuckled, shaking her head, then became serious. She could think in silence now...she had to think of a plan to get into Matilda. She knew that it was a castle...a veritable fortress crawling with trained knights who probably wouldn't appreciate having their home broken into. They wouldn't be able to pull the trick they had when crossing the Matilda border...they'd be spotted right away. If only there were some way to trick the guards into letting them come in... A woman walked by her and Seyona had a weird urge to talk to the person. She stopped the woman in her tracks. "Er...excuse me..." She started to ask. "You know..." The woman replied thoughtfully. "Many of the Matilda Knights live here in Highway village." Seyona blinked, watching the woman go. That was certainly the most unusual conversation she'd ever had. Wait... Matilda Knights...in the highway village... That's it! Without a moments hesitation, Seyona sprang into action, preparing to research for her upcoming brilliant plan. In the shadows the figure in the cloak watched her, letting his staff's magic die down before venturing forth into the streets. |
