February 18, 2003 Newsletter
Hello Leos, long time no meeting. But I'm proud to announce that the Club is back and in action. This meeting's attendance was pretty low due to the fact that we didn't have an announcement or newsletter regarding the meeting. So here is what went on. There are a lot of dates and times so be sure to keep note of this.
Pop Tops/Eyeglasses/Hearing Aids: You guys know the routine, collect and give all your stuff to Michelle and/or Daniel Mondak and they will take care of it. However, if you have eyeglasses we will be dropping those off this weekend, so be sure to give them to somebody if you have anything.
Relay for Life: Daniel Mondak brought in all the forms necessary to participate in the Relay for Life which will be held on June 5-6 from 7pm to 7am at Pratt Park. We encourage everyone to participate and come to the Relay. If you have any further questions see Daniel.
T-shirts: The t-shirt committee is going to send the order in for our Leo Club t-shirts by next week. Please, if you are interested in a shirt, bring $12.00 to purchase it.
NFB Walk: The NFB (National Federation for the Blind) Walk, which the Leo Club proudly participates in each year, will be held on April 3 2004 at 10:00 am. We will walk two miles round trip in Downtown Fredericksburg. Volunteers will be needed to help set up and participate at Nurses stations and man refreshment tables.
Leo Conference: The Leo Club Conference will be held this Saturday, President Melissa Brice and Vice President Michelle Marietta will be attending and are willing to take on 4 to 5 more people if they want to attend. If you are interested please talk to either of them.
Lions Meeting: The Lions Club will be holding a meeting on May 18 2004 and are inviting us, as a club, to join them as they have a speaker about Drug Prevention Programs in the area. There will be more information regarding this soon.
Scholarships: As many of you know, two of our members were killed in an auto accident Friday, February 6, 2004. Our Leo Club has recently been awarded a college scholarship for senior Leos in Nerissa and Alex's name. Also, we are trying to plant trees (which were donated to us)in the CFHS Senior Courtyard in their honor with plaques. Also. Nerissa's parents, The Hackmans, are attempting to build a Youth Resource Center dedicated to their daughter, our Leo Club is seeking to help fund and volunteer in the building of this center. If any of you have ideas for fundraisers or wish to donate to the Hackman's, information will be given out next meeting.
Hope to see you all next meeting, Wednesday February 25, 2004.

Leo Club Secretary
