Championship Fighting Federation ---------------------- So you want to learn more about the CFF... or you just accidentally stumbled onto this page and are will to waste a couple minutes of your life - either way, good show old man cuase you'll soon be learning everything you need to know for the CFF! --------------- Backstory [OOC] --------------- Well, this past summer of 2003, I was in that limbo os post-college, pre-work period of having nothing to do. I retired my characters since I couldn't handle them and leave mid-cycle and I was just plum spent creatively on characters. So after doing yet another rumor/opinion e-wrestling web page, I thought it would be fun to run a self-made fed of just my failed characters , odd ideas, and ripoffs of other e-w stars. Using the "Just the Facts!" owner, Chock Full, as the owner of the federation as well, so was born the CFF. It was fun writing up the summary cards and all, trying to get a bad writing style down pat, seeing what a chore it must be for writers of real e-feds and all that jazz. But as soon as I was getting into it, real life work called me and so I had to make the big move, apartment hunting, 7-5 work and all that... ugh-ness. Anyway, I had to scrap it and focus on getting stuff together... oh, and not having computer access played a little... huge part of it all. But now back and charged up, I'm ready to tackle a true fed, with handlers, written out cards, and everything that comes with the package. Was always a handler, never a fedhead, so I figured I'll give it a go and see how long it lasts . And... that's about it. --------------- Backstory [IC] --------------- Somewhat well known "internet insider", Chock Full, came into a financial windfall of a winning Pick-6 lottery ticket one early summer day in 2003. After blowing a good chunk on booze & women, Chock laid down some dimes on a slightly used wrestling ring that was in storage in a Tampa warehouse. Why? Well, Chock always wanted to cross the line from critic/rumor monger to owner and actual member of the wrestling business. Seems the former owners were desperate to get rid of it, saying it "bad omens" and was "never the home to a good show". But Chock didn't care - it was a steal of deal and left some more money to hire wrestlers and setup up something of a seating area... But where to put the dang-gone thing? Well, he looked at his back yard, saw the area, and just plopped it there. His house & fence made for a good bit of protection from the ne'er-do-wells that would try to shut down the project and from the cheapskates trying to curb the cover charge. After buying some seats, hiring a ring crew member, and getting his good friend - Free I. Am - to be the ref (and living up to his name), Chock set out to get the best talent he could find in the Southeastern PA region that wouldn't be demanding of money. He got some big names, some promising rookies, and some local hard-working vets to have a test run of the Chock Full o' Fighting league. It was sloppy, poor production values (Chock couldn't quite afford a nice sound system after buying a new car, so he settled on a megaphone for mic-work), but he was happy with what he created. The local area fans liked the work and were happy to pay the $1.00 charge for admission. So after a month of this pretty good feedback, Chock Full took a break from everything and went on a tour of his own - a fed-funding tour that would bring the CFF to a full life. However, Chock had to change the name to Championship Fighting Federation in order to make the federation more marketable... Go figure. Chock was able to get a number of local sponsors, places to put on shows throughout the PA/NJ/DE Tri-State area [especially during the winter months for indoor venues] and was able to afford an actual sound system, more crews, refs, and a little more advertising. In addition, after showing tapes to a local Philly-area independent station - WGTW 48 [That's Good Television to Watch], Chock was able to score on a preliminary TV contract for a show Tuesday nights at midnight. With all this going right for him, Chock decided he need to upgrade the true heart & soul of the fed - the wrestlers. Keeping on only about half the roster from before, Chock made room for some more polished, more promising, and more exciting competitors to compete for the glory and the glod of the CFF. --------------- Fed Rules/Info --------------- The CFF has a loose-rules system, but tries to not be harsh or 'ultra-violent'. CFF will not have it's ring be bathed in blood every show since it's simply to much to clean it all the time. Plus, there could be kids in the audience and they're the ones more likely to want to buy the fed's merchandise. But things outrageous can and will happen, to keep things shocking and new. All matches of all types can happen on the shows; however, the basic, regular match will be enforced with disqualifications and count-outs. The CFF has a number of sponsors that have graciously put funding into the fed. Some of sponsors are Chickie's & Pete's in the Northeast (Philadelphia), Matress Giant, the Jewelry Factory, WaWa, and Pat's King of Steaks just to name a few. They'll have some commercials during the show and have banners throughout the area, but will also pressure Chock should things get out of hand... so unfortunately, Chock's got keep some boundries and try to police his federation as well as owning it. For handling and stuff, there's some things that need to be mentioned: 1. This fed is small time... VERY small time. Think public access-quality. This means there will be no steel cage in the beginning, no spidernets with bombs, no killing boxes, no plethora of tables [In facts, there's only one table and if it's broken - whoo, talk about being in a bad way contract wise!] - basically none of the frills you see on a regular wrestling show. However, don't take this as a bad sign - rather, use it for creative means. Think of new spots, weapons, and likely things to be at the venues to construct new match types. 2. This is my first venture in fedheading - it will be rough early on. I can admit to not being a great match writer, so I may ask for help. Taking all that into account, don't look for 300k cards... or even 100k... 50k, maybe. I want to keep it small, quick, and easy to handle until I get comfortable with it. Having to write huge cards would just burn me out and make it a chore than a fun project. 3. Your characters can't be big timers. This means that they shouldn't know how to do every move in the book well or effectively carry a match perfectly. This is an indy fed on the lowest rung of the ladder - it's not going to attract high-level or even mid-level talent. Pretty much only rookies, well past their prime vets, wrestlers that work as a side-job, and those without much ability. Seems odd to setup an e-fed that would relish having it's talent lack... well, the talent, but having blown spots and some jittery ring work seems to be more of a challenge than doing it all smoothly. 4. As well, on the same note as the previous bit, the wrestlers in the fed can't already be apart of other federations that are above small-time feds. I won't accept a wrestler that's also competing in a worldwide fed since that would look rather odd - Chock would've either really suckered the guy into wasting time in this nowhere fed or the wrestler's got a bag of rocks for brains. 5. Fun - have it while you're in the fed. The moment you don't want to be in the fed anymore, just say so and stop handling. I'm not going to beg you out of leaving. As well, it would be realistic since smaller feds have higher turnovers anyway as wrestlers leave to make the step up or figure out that it's really time to retire. 6. Of course, keep everything in-character. So don't do what I've done here in this FAQ by mix real life feds & e-feds. And don't use other wrestlers without their handler's permission. You can, however, mention characters from other feds and bad-mouth/parody them if you wish... however, just like in the real feds, you'll also have to reap the rewards of the action with being blackballed. But hey, that means the CFF would get the wrestler for even a cheaper salary! 7. Don't send in heaps of RPs, in-rings, and promos. Don't waste that much time. All you should need is a backstage promo before the match. In fact, that's all you'll get. You think WGTW has the time slots to run a no-action wrestling show?!? Well, actually it does, but that's beside the point - all roleplays will take place at the event OR earlier in the week via hand-held camera. 8. Try to get to know the other handlers, see what they want out of the match, show, on-card, and/or angle. Knowing what the other wants out of the program makes for a better all around thingamajig. --------------- Fed Characters --------------- Owner/Operator - Chock Full: A late-twenty-ish "internet insider" [read: unemployeed lump] who had previously given dirt on the bigwigs in the industry, but now - after his financial windfall - finds himself on the inside. Will he be able to hold back his loose lips so this CFF ship doesn't sink? If not, lawsuits! Whoo! Also, it seems Chock wants to the "hands-on" type of owner, so you may see him out there in the ring reffing [he signed up and got himself a lisence to do so], call the matches on air, be the time-keeper, run a "Fan Cam", or even setup the ring... Kind of comes down to which crew member's taken the day off. Announcer - Lenny Zefring: Knicked-named "Bulls-eye", cause he only shoots straight with his commentary, Larry's the guy who calls the matches play-by-play, blow-by-blow. He tries to impartial, but sometimes gets caught up with the crowd and roots for the fan favorite. Not really flashy, no catch-phrases, no gimmicks... and, sadly, no personality. Announcer - K.R. Douglas: For the most part, Lenny'll call the matches by himself, but sometimes K.R. will force himself into the booth and try to call the match as well, to Lenny's dismay. Douglas isn't the best announcer, somewhat of a hog on the mic, and not that knowledgable of who's who. And he'll usually disagree with Lenny on everything, so fear if K.R.'s on air, cause it could get gruesome. When not calling a match, Douglas is the primary backstage interviewer. Head Referee - Yonef Sterlong: Former and last PSJW champion, Sterlong's a vet in the ring that knows all the tricks. While in his heyday, Sterlong was a great juniorweight competitor in the indy federations - but never a fan favorite as he routinely "leveraged" his wins with some underhanded deeds... Not that he really ever needed to, but he felt why do double the work when you get the same result? So Yonef's in the know when it comes to rule-breakers... and, in the big time matches, won't be adverse to letting things go a bit so that the match can be a little better. His work ethic's still a bit of a question, though, so let's hope Sterlong doesn't call a match early so he doesn't miss happy hour. Referee - Free I Am: One of Chock's good friends and the first [and only] referee in the former CFF. A down-the-line, by-the-book type of guy that keeps his focus on the match at hand and tries not to to get distracted by the outside-of-the-ring hijinks. In fact, he'll throw out managers and other ringside people if he deems them a distraction. Referee - Fudo Waru: Brother of wrestling manager, Goku Waru, Fudo's been a referee for over 30 years, with matches all of the Far East, Mexico, Europe, and the United States - so credentials aren't a problem. He knows how to call a match right and evenly, making sure he doesn't make himself a primary figure in the bout. Will always ref the more intensive, truer wrestling matches. However, Fudo does hold a bit of a grudge towards Yonef Sterlong as Fudo thinks he should be the Head Ref. Timekeeper - Sal Jones: Not much of anything - just one of the more dedicated CFF fans that volunteered to take this somewhat thankless position. Sponsors' Representative - Perry Tolbert: An empty suit if there ever was one, he kowtows to whatever the sponsors demand and tries to make it happen - whether Chock Full approves or not. It'd be nice to get rid of him as no one particularly likes the weasel, but he's got his place as without him, there'd be no money. --------------- Show --------------- "Wednesday Night Supreme Fights" - "Supreme" for short - airs on Philadelphia/Trenton local independent station, WGTW 48, midnights on... Wednesday. Not always every week, though, as WGTW has some scheduling problems and CFF doesn't have the money to run a show a week. So it's sometimes on, sometimes not, sometimes a re-run. It's a one hour show, but Chock's asked for an hour and a half as the alternative - reruns of the Real World - isn't as action packed as Supreme... well, except for Real World Seattle. Anyway It's a low-budget show with below-average to moderate production values. Usually takes place in armories, high school gyms, and even outdoors if the weather's nice. Some of the special shows will take place at Chickie's & Pete's in the Northeast, so the show will be varied. There's currently no "home base", though, for the CFF. Supreme will consist of both matches and on-air interview/promo tapes. Typically, three to four matches a show. As well, if CFF has nothing scheduled for one week, the show may be just an interview and hype airing with no matches or matches from other area feds that Chock has a good relationship with. --------------- Titles --------------- CFF Championship - The top title of the fed, the one everyone on the roster tries to win. There are no requirements on how many times it must be defended or any weight limits, but with everyone looking for a shot, expect only the most able to be able to hold onto it. CFF Tag Team Titles - The Tag division is on Chock wants to cultivate, so these will get prominence and will be just as heavily sought after as the CFF Championship. Any two-member teams can vy for this title, but with some of the talent Chock's been looking at for the tag division, you better be able to work as a unit. ON HOLD: The Pennsylvania State Junior Wrestling Title - A titled that dates back to the 70's, with Yonef Sterlong as it's last holder, it has been donated to the CFF for use. However, it's got to wait until Chock's got a big enough cruiser division that's capable of living up to it's lofty history. And, since Yonef is still the holder, whenever the division does open up, someone's got to pin Sterlong to the mat first - and that's a tall order. --------------- Application --------------- **Please be descriptive as possible **Send to CFFSupreme@yahoo.com Your Name: Email: IRC: E-Wrestling Experience: Character's Name: Year of Birth: Hometown: Height: Weight: Appearance: In Ring Attire: Personality: Alignment (often the fed head/writer will decide whether your character gets face or heel heat, but this category should give us a good idea what he starts as): Strengths: Weakness (MUST be at least equal in both number and relevance to Strengths): Entrance Music: Ring Entrance (Try to be short with these... and make sure it fits the fed): Type of Wrestler (high flyer, brawler, technician, etc): Comparable Real Wrestlers (and if you're citing a puro/foreign wrestler...
