| History The Las Vegas Crappers baseball club has a long history that can be traced back to 1991. When the CRBL was founded in 1991, the franchise that is now the Crappers can trace its roots back to the White Sox of that league. The Sox fared poorly that year, finshing in 4th place. The first player chosen in the history of the franchise was Cal Ripken Jr. The White Sox drafted good players in their initial draft, getting Ripken, Barry Bonds, Kirby Puckett, Cecil Fielder, and Barry Larkin. They moved up a spot to third place in the points standings in 1992. They did make a little bit of noise in the playoffs with a minor upset of the White Owls in the first round before getting swept by the Mavericks in the championship. A change occurred in 1993 as the White Sox changed their name to the Orioles. A controversial arrangement helped propel the Orioles to second place in 1993. All team owners in 1992 were granted an expansion franchise in 1993. These expansion teams were meant to be run as seperate operations, but there were no rules set down in the league bylaws expressly stating that. As a result, the Orioles were at the top of a system that contained as many as 4 teams, with the other teams being used as "feeder" teams to provide the Orioles with the best available players. The team did win the American League pennant by 2 games, only to get swept once again by the Mavericks in the championship series. More big changes were in store in 1994 as the Orioles changed their name to the Cyclones. The Cyclones were in first place when the CRBL folded on May 2, 1994. After a few weeks, the league was reborn as the NRBL. The Cyclones were in second place when in August 1994, the players went on strike, thus ending what was a chaotic 1994 season. After the near-misses of the 1994 season, the 1995 season was a disappointment for the Cyclones as they fell to fourth place, 203 points out of first, and only 4 points out of being in fifth place. After that season, the NRBL folded. The franchise was reborn in the Richie Ashburn League in 2005 as Logan's Loonies. Injuries suffered by players such as Jim Thome, Scott Rolen, and Josh Beckett crippled the team, and they finished in last place. For the 2006 season, the team will be renamed the Crappers, the same as Las Vegas's football team. The Crappers play in the Crapper Bowl--yet another ballpark in the Ashburn League (along with Foreskin Field in Boston) that has a controversial name. The 55,000-seat stadium is the biggest in the league, and cost $350 million to build. The Crapper Bowl is in the same sports/entertainment complex as Schlitz Stadium, home to the football Crappers, and a hockey arena that will open in October 2006 and will be the home to the Tail Tuggers.
