The Rite of Passage Mission
The Mission of the Cultural Foundation For Children is to teach children about themselves, including their heritage, family history, and physical health, as well as their society, including community history, leadership, service and urban survival. In this program, the Foundation focuses its attention on African American youth between the ages of 12 and 17. Supplementing the learning that youth receive in school in the streets and at home, the Foundation's programs join child, parents, and community in a partnership that will enable participating youth to develop new skills, and to recognize, appreciate, and utilize their talents in ways that are creative, educational, and fun. The Foundation's activities challenge youth to develop physically, mentally and spiritually to the end that these activities will serve to become traditional 'Coming of Age' rites for participating youth. |
