| Match Report After suffering their first defeat in the league, Collingham bounced back to winning ways. Due to injuries this was an under strength Collingham side however they produced a top calibre display. An injured Dawson was stuck between the posts to enable Collingham to field 11 men, as a result white had an unfamiliar spell in centre of midfield. No Grafter Gavin and no Wizard Wilko meant that Nocivelli started in the centre of midfield and Miller got his chance up front. Without the skill of Schlicht at the back it was left for Dodds to re-appear in the heart of the centre defence. So the game got under way and it was very hard and crowded in the middle of the field, with occasional glimpses of class from Collingham. And after good work from Nifty Nockers and Silky Sam, on the right Woolley found himself in possesion from 10 yards out to curl the ball home with his left boot, a good start. However this was short lived when Dawson producecd an absolute howler of a keeper error when deflecting the ball in to his own net. He was bemused as the rest of the team...and that was the way it stayed for the first half. At half time a few words of guidance were given and a well deserved break was taken. It did the team more good than could ever be imagined. White now holding his position with force meant that the defence was very rarely troubled. His presence was immense and with Nocivelli creating chances just him front of him, you would have been suprised to know that the two first choice midfielders were absent. They were quality and looked at home in the heart of the hallowed station road turf. Woolley was whizzing down the left tormenting twaisting defenders at the flick of a switch. It was great to watch. Collingham then produced there 2nd goal through Betts...who went on to secure another hat-trick for the season, althought his 3rd goal needed some hard work after having the most blatent of penalty appeals turned down. However justice was given when the ball fell to his feet and he celebrated as his justs deserved. Meanwhile Mr 'Come On Then' Miller seemed to prefer a shoving contest with the keeper than to celebrate the goal. After Dawson's howler in the first half, his opposite number obviously felt pity and produced a mighty spill to allow Nocivelli to add to his tally for his season. Also on his return Dodds rose superbly to meet Nockers' corner and perfectly place a header across the goal and in to the corner of the net. Woolley also grabbed another goal after again good work down the left...and it was fully deserved. In summary I think players, supporters and management were suprised and overcome with how well this XI played but full credit to them...each of them played with class composure but most of all they were all committed to the cause of winning. Well Done! | James 'Nifty' Nocivelli - Despite Betts' hat-trick and Woolleys' exploits on the left, Nocivelli was outstanding today and it was obvious to see he enjoyed it. Had a bit of luck with the goal but for the amount he created he earned it. Well Done! |
