| Match Report Another goal feast today saw Collingham beat Ordsall 12-2. As with the last report there are too many goals to describe each one so I will have to just comment on scorers and other match facts. Collingham started very brightly and were ahead by two goals from the scoring machine Sam Betts, one was a debatable OG, but the referee confirmed it was Sams goal. Inside the next 10 minutes we had added another two Sam got his hat-trick and the wizard Wilko produced some magic to score. Then came a dubious goal from a corner that apparently crossed the line! So it was 4-1, but the team didnt drop their heads and got a goal back quite quickly through Wilkinson. Some sleepy heads at the back though, let Ordsall narrow the gap once more and it ended up 5-2 at half time. We played some great football in this half, and the lads did what were asked of them. They passed the ball well, found space, closed the opposition down superbly and it showed by the amount of possession the team had. Perhaps we should have scored a few more goals (as is always the case) but at half time the lads could hold their head up high for a delightful first half performance. Two substitutions were made at half time, Blake replaced Cook and Edens took over from Nocivelli. Collingham were raring to go and it took them about 5 minutes before Betts added his 4th, and Wilko got his hatrick. Then the subs came in to play, first off was Edens who scored with a delicate chip over the keeper, and Blake who picked up a missed penalty by Betts to rifle a shot to score his first game of the season (this was some goal and definitely goal of the game). Then after taking note of Edens chipping ability, Wilkinson added his 4th with a great move down the right the ball was played across to be met with a delightful dink of a shot from the wizard. Then Wilko and Betts were replaced with Nocivelli and Cook who both added their names to the score sheet to complete the rout. In between the 12 goals their were some great individual performances, from White who made some great saves and skilfully acted as a sweeper when called upon. Parlett and Dawson who commanded the defence dynamically, in particular Dawson who made some darting runs and played some devastatingly delightful through balls. As always there was Gavin, controlling the game as he does with his strength, work rate and passing ability. Williams behind him, had a great game winning practically everything that came over the midfield. Also Nocivelli's hard work up front was duly paid back when he got his deserved goal. In summary though the performance was a strong one, and several compliments were given about the team from the opposing management. On the down side tenacious Tom got booked for kicking the ball away, and let it be a lesson to him and you all that you must keep a cool head and play by the rules at all times. But it was a great game to watch and you ALL showed yourselves in good light. Average Ratings White - 8 Woolley - 7 Cook - 7 Schlicht - 7 Gavin - 9 Parlett - 8 Betts - 8 Dawson - 9 Wilkinson - 9 Nocivelli - 8 Williams - 8 Subs Edens - 7 Lamb - 7 Blake - 7 Man of the Match Special Thanks Thank you all for the huge amount of support today. | Steven Wilkinson - A stunningly magical game for the wizard, four fantstic goals and awesome work rate throughout the game, he even managed to slot in nicely at centre back for the last 5 minutes as well. Well Done Wilko! |
