| Report Apologies for this not being on earlier but ive struggled for 2 hours to get on the website to edit it. This may explain while this report might be shorter than previous versions. Anyway... Today saw Collingham go joint top of C division today with 2 games in hand on fellow leaders Spilsby. The result of todays meeting was 5-0 and the performance was 5 star! After a McDonalds lunch all players were raring to go for what was envisaged as an awkward encounter. There was a slight change of formation to a 4-5-1 and it showed the team in good light and their ability to respond successfully to a change of tactics. Every single player did a great job today from the keeper to the subs, they were all superb. In goal Robert commanded his area superbly after a quiet rollicking from the sidelines, when it was noticeable that his voice and presence were not being used efficiently. At the back Phil and Rick controlled the centre of defence whilst Ozzie and Lee brought the ball out effectively. In midfield, our packed midfield, the wizard Wilko twisting turning and laying off some superb deliveries, accompanied by the grafter Gavin as good as ever fighting and working his socks winning every ball he good. On the left the warrior Woolley combing with majestic Miller linking up lusciously, and on the right nifty Nockers noticeably giving an extra option when going forward. Then up front, all on his own...but does he need anyone else? Supersam the goal machine, looking as lively as ever with his darting dribbles and runs. On the bench was the exquisite Edens, pulsating to play. Williams the calm player who can create a storm when going forward and Master Parlett, precision power and the presence of a wall. Ill say it again all of you today were awesome. The first half started as a bit of a settling in stage with some players adapting to their new positions, but it didnt stop the battle and more importantly it didnt hinder the teams ability to produce quality football. It wasnt long before we broke through. Betts picked up the ball 35 yards out and put his head down and ran at the terrified defence he skipped past one, two, three players before dinking the ball over the keeper with his left peg. A lovely finish to a great run. Then came the second...goal of the game, wilko picked up the ball in midfield turned, released a precision ball to Woolley who was charging in down the left flank, he picked it up and lavished a 15 yard net buster across the goal, leaving the keeper with no chance. The half continued with Collingham stringing some good moves together and playing some attractive football. After a good first half performance no substitutions were needed, however within 5-10 minutes of the second half it was evident they were. So on came Edens, Williams and Parlett. Edens as ever, entertaing the crowd with skill and his battling ability. It paid off...after superb link up play down the right wing between Nocivelli and Betts, the ball was played across the heart of the area with Edens being on the end of it to make it 3-0. Then after picking up the ball from Williams, Tommy increased his tally to two, with a twist a turn and a shot the keeper couldnt stop. Supersub Edens had done himself proud. Then came the fifth, the first of the season from a corner, it wasnt pretty but it did go in. A good delivery enabled Betts to bundle the ball towards goal, with Parlett making some handy contact, but after consultation with the referee the ball was judged to be over the line before Adam made contact. And thats how it ended...five goals, a first clean sheet and a grand performance. Well Done!!!!! | Lee 'Warrior' Woolley - Great game today on the left wing and did your defensive duties well, when drafted back to defence...despite your whinging. Great determination, great skill and pace but an even greater goal. Well done Lee |
