Gary Mallalieu Simonds

Hello.  First, an explanation.  You may notice is that my name above is Gary Mallalieu Simonds.  It includes my mothers maiden name.  This is due to the fact that it is a tradition in Latin American cultures to do this, and I do not mind giving Mom some credit along with Dad.  If anyone has a problem, they can talk to Peg.  She and my dad made all those trips to the hospital for many injuries, etc.  Personally, I would have left my son there after the hundredth time in the ER (why we didn´t come up with the idea for that show is still a mystery to me).

I started my journey as a volunteer during a conversation with a good friend a few days before New Year´s Eve in the year 2000.  , 6 months later, to the surprise of many, I left my job of 10 years as a chemist.  Now, here I am in Chimbote, Peru with the Congregation of Christian brothers.  The program is dedicated to service and living in a prayerful community.  Through both of these aspects. this experience has been one filled with growth, revelations, fun and tears.  I have grown a lot in my journey with God.  In other words, it is worth it.

Gracias Dios.

My experience has so far included three countries (four if you include the three hour visit to Panama during a flight delay) starting in New York, to Notre Dame University, then Mexico (language training for three months) and finally Peru.  Below are links to various activities in the past, photos, etc.  If you want to contact me, my email is [email protected].
