Following the 2007 season, three franchises withdrew from the CFCL: Da Paul Meisters, Eric's Lambchops, and Teddy's Splendid Splinters. After a month-long search, Tim Morkert, Mike Moore, and Michael Coulter were tabbed to join the league as owners of new franchises. The players owned by the departing franchises were pooled and a supplemental draft was held for the new GMs to select their players from that pool.
The 2008 Dispersement Draft was held on January 26, 2008 at Pompei restaurant in Oakbrook Terrace. Co-Commissioner David Mahlan was there to lead the festivities.
The draft order was determined when Tim and the two Michaels each selected a number between 3 and 200. Co-Commissioner Mahlan looked up the corresponding page number in the original 1984 edition of the Rotisserie League Baseball book and wrote down the first word on the the page. The words were alphabetized, and Moore Better (Mike Moore), who had the earliest word alphabetically, were awarded the first pick in the Dispersement Draft. Morkertzuma's Revenge (Tim Morkert) got the second pick, with Candy Colored Clowns (Michael Coulter) had the last pick in the first round.
The new owners took turns selecting players and by the end each team had acquired 23 players. The initial rosters for the new franchises looked like this (players are listed in the order selected):
