Latest CFCL Bulletin and Roster Changes

"Baseball is fathers and sons. Football is brothers beating each other up in the backyard, violent and superficial. Baseball is the generations, looping backward forever...Baseball is fathers and sons playing catch, lazy and murderous, wild and controlled, the profound archaic song of birth, growth, age, and death. This diamond enclosed what we are." - Donald Hall

Most Improved Competition

Last week, I promised a copy of the 1984 edition of Rotisserie League Baseball to the team that improved the most from the August 31 standings through the end of the season.  After one week, the leaders are:

                  Copperfields             +5.5
                  DoorMatts                  +3.5
                  Splinters                     +1.5
                  Bulls                            +1.5

What the ….?!?!?!?!  Look, the object is for me to give away one of these books – I’ve already got a few copies and am willing to share.  C’mon guys, it’d be pretty sad if I won this and had to present a book to myself.

Spotted in Rebel Country

One look at the standings reveals it's been a tough year down in Ft. Payne, home of Dem Rebels.  In an e-mail I received this week from a Rebel fan down south comes a stark reminder of just how early it was all over.

Bocephus T. Bugtussle sent this picture he snapped our in front of his church shortly after the season began.

Even the faithful Baptists knew when all hope was lost...

Hometown Discount Watch

In 2007, the teams that finished in 5th-12th place in 2006 will receive a budget of up to .06 to use toward reacquiring players who had played out their option with the team (B-contract players). The exact amount each team receives will be based on how far behind the 5th place team they are at the end of the year, in terms of a percentage of the 5th place team's point total.
