rosters in Excel format. Free Agent Bids and Waiver Claims
Announcing FAAB Results As I did last year, I will post the results of the weekly free agent bidding in the CFCL Forum as soon as I can after the transaction deadline each week. I know many of you can't wait for the bidding results until I get the report posted late Friday or early Saturday, so hopefully this will ease the tension a bit. Major League M-Contract Keeper Cory Hart, who Dem Rebels placed on their Reserve List going into the Draft, ended up making his NL team's Opening Day roster. Since Hart was in the majors but did not count against the Rebel's Draft Day budget, he can't be activated or traded prior to July 1. Miller Park Road Trip? Every couple of years or so, a small group of CFCL owners gets all fired up about getting together during the season, and usually nothing ever comes of it. But this time, we're serious, dammit. When Eric, Teddy, and I attended Ron Shandler's seminar in Oakbrook a couple months ago, we kicked around some ideas for league gatherings and one possibility we came up with was going up to Milwaukee for a game. In a thread on the Forum, Steve volunteered (or more appropriately, was goaded into volunteering) to organize/coordinate a trip. Please let Steve know if you're interested - either via e-mail or the Forum. FYI, Eric, Teddy, and I had a couple other ideas for getting together -- possibly one around the All-Star Game -- and Rich and I have discussed possibly doing something involving kids/family. Anyone with other ideas, feel free to kick them out there. GameDay Have you checked out mlb.com's GameDay in-game updates application. Pretty slick. It's almost overwhelming when you first open it up, with all the information displayed, but you become used to it pretty quickly. Above the field layout on the left, you can select various options to display the location of where one or both of the teams have the ball. The top of the middle panel displays the current pitcher and hitter. Scroll over their face and the the current pitch count (for the pitcher) or the result of the last at-bat (for the hitter) displays. Down below, you can see the exact location of each pitch to the batter so far - very cool to watch how a pitcher works a hitter. On the right, you get not only the current box score, but a link allows you to view exactly who each team has left on the bench, along with their stats for the year. Way up at the top, there are the scores of all the other games going on, which are links to hop to the GameDay view for those games. Hometown Discount Watch In 2007, the teams that finished in 5th-12th place in 2006 will receive a budget of up to .06 to use toward reacquiring players who had played out their option with the team (B-contract players). The exact amount each team receives will be based on how far behind the 5th place team they are at the end of the year, in terms of a percentage of the 5th place team's point total.
