Announcing FAAB Results

As I did last year, I will post the results of the weekly free agent bidding in the CFCL Forum as soon as I can after the transaction deadline each week. I know many of you can't wait for the bidding results until I get the report posted late Friday or early Saturday, so hopefully this will ease the tension a bit.

Draft Day Info

The 2005 Draft was one of the speediest yet, and once again, Rich deserves heaps of thanks for the splendid facilities, and also for manning the bidding spreadsheet that allowed us to communicate with Ruffin Headquarters in Greensboro.

The spreadsheet tracks the name, team, salary, and auction time of every player acquired. Here are some Draft Day Stats from the tracker:

Total Time of Auction (including breaks)

6 hours, 24 minutes

Longest Player Auction

Mike Lieberthal (11 minutes)

Average Player Auction

2 minutes

Longest Round

Rounds 1, 3, and 4 (39 minutes)

Time lost to technical problems

6 minutes

Time spent on breaks

33 minutes

Overall, the auction was nearly an hour shorter than last year's Draft.

The full record for this years draft can be viewed at: http://www.geocities.com/cfclhist5/2005/05draftrecord.html

Major League M-Contract Keepers

Two players were kept on their CFCL team's Reserve List going into the Draft and eventually made their NL team's Opening Day roster. These players are:

JJ Hardy (Splinters)
Luke Hudson (Kenndoza Line)

Since Hardy and Hudson were in the majors but did not count against the Splinters' and Kenndoza Line's Draft Day budget, neither one of them can be activated or traded prior to July 1.

Hometown Discount Watch

In 2006, the teams that finished in 5th-12th place in 2005 will receive a budget of up to .06 to use toward reacquiring players who had played out their option with the team (B-contract players). The exact amount each team receives will be based on how far behind the 5th place team they are at the end of the year, in terms of a percentage of the 5th place team's point total.
