Latest CFCL Bulletin and Roster Changes

"I love baseball too much to do anything else. When the season is over I’m grouchy all the time. I feel miserable. I’m always sick. I get imaginary pains, like a baby. Only when spring training comes around and I can put the uniform back on do the pains go away." - Woody Huyke

Contact Information Sequel

Last week I detailed the new/changed information on the Directories I handed out at the banquet. I neglected to mention that in addition to a new e-mail address, Matt Grage also has a cell phone listed now.

Draft Day 2005

The target weekend for Draft Day next year is April 2 - 3.  Based on the past several years, I’d bet on Sunday April 3 as the date we’ll shoot for.  But don’t hold me to that … yet.

Early Season Roadtrip?

At the banquet a few weeks ago, Steve Olson mentioned he might be able to get tickets for CFCLers who were interested in traveling up to Milwaukee for a game during the Cubs’ first road trip there next season.  According to the schedule the Cubs released a few weeks ago, that would be May 3-5.  I think Steve said it would most likely be the Wednesday game (which is May 4), but I’m not positive about that.  Several banquet attendees were interested, and I imagine some of the owners who weren’t there would like to go as well.

I assume Steve will keep us posted on the details, so stay tuned.

Wesley Update

I’m very happy to pass on the great news that Wesley Scott, the Little Splinter, is home and doing well.

Teddy reports that Wesley was able to leave the hospital last week and things have been great.  He reportedly has an incredible appetite, though Teddy says he could use some work on his sleep patterns.  Anyway, it’s good to hear that all is well in the Scott household.

Wesley Scott - now there's a name that brings to mind a slugging first baseman.  Or a star of classic Westerns.

Topper Watch

In 2005, the teams that finished in 5th-12th place in 2004 will receive a budget of up to .06 to use toward reacquiring players who had played out their option with the team (B-contract players). The exact amount each team receives will be based on how far behind the 5th place team they are at the end of the year, in terms of a percentage of the 5th place team's point total.
