Constitutional Matters

At the Draft this year I passed out printed copies of the Constitution that were marked with the word "DRAFT". This draft included revisions based on the rule changes we had adopted during the off-season. Since I have not yet updated the version of the Constitution that's on the website, the copy I passed out at the Draft is still the most recent version (this is available in Word format in the Download Center). If anyone has noticed potential problems or has concerns about the way the revisions to the Constitution were worded in the DRAFT copy (possible confusion, misleading phrasing, incomplete explanations, etc), please let me know.

Philosophy in the Forum

Shortly before the season began I posted a few threads to the CFCL Forum under the heading of Philosophy. These are topics related to how the league is run and how we interact, but may not be the type of thing that would be included as a rule in the Constitution.

I had hoped that there would be some discussion about these topics on the Forum so we could start to define how we as a league feel about them. A few owners did chime in with some thoughts, but the discussions never took off on a league-wide basis as I’d hoped.

Before we decide what, if anything, to do with the results of these discussions, I thought I’d put out one last call for contributions. Any thoughts or opinions you’d like to share on the following topics would be welcome:

The Role of the Executive Committee

Evaluating Trades (Dumping)

Actions That Should Be Forbidden

Handling Owner Improprieties

Topper Watch

In 2005, the teams that finished in 5th-12th place in 2004 will receive a budget of up to .06 to use toward reacquiring players who had played out their option with the team (B-contract players). The exact amount each team receives will be based on how far behind the 5th place team they are at the end of the year, in terms of a percentage of the 5th place team's point total.

Based on the standings through last Thursday, here are the teams that would receive Topper Budgets for use in the 2005 Draft and the amount each team would receive:
