"Like a few, very few athletes … Robinson did not merely play at center stage. He was center stage; and wherever he walked, center stage moved with him." - Roger Kahn

Announcing FAAB Results

This is a reminder that I'll post the results of the weekly free agent bidding in the CFCL Forum as soon as I can after the transaction deadline each week. Since I don't usually get the report posted until late Friday night or Saturday morning, this will eliminate some of the suspense I'm sure everybody endures wondering whether their bid for that key free agent was successful. Feel free to post replies to the FAAB results and vent if you were outbid.

Also, you'll notice in the detailed listing of bids above there's a name following each team. That is the player that the team would have waived had their bid been successful. I realized that in some sense these players could be seen as potential trade targets (since their teams were willing to cut them loose), so it's only fair for me to make that information public.

On a Personal Note

There was great concern expressed about my health by some owners at the Draft, and by others in e-mails after the Draft. To put those concerns to rest, be assured that (as far as I know) all is well health-wise. Yes, I have lost a ton of weight (well, not a ton literally, more like 135-140 lbs), but it was intentional and not the result of a ravaging illness of some sort. I appreciate the concerns, and wasn't at all offended by the questions – more flattered than anything.

Topper Watch

In 2005, the teams that finished in 5th-12th place in 2004 will receive a budget of up to .06 to use toward reacquiring players who had played out their option with the team (B-contract players). The exact amount each team receives will be based on how far behind the 5th place team they are at the end of the year, in terms of a percentage of the 5th place team's point total.

Based on the standings through last Thursday, here are the teams that would receive Topper Budgets for use in the 2005 Draft and the amount each team would receive:
