Last Call - Fantasy Baseball Documentary It sounds like we’ll have very good representation from the CFCL at the premiere of "Trading the Gator." As many as 8 CFCL owners may be in attendance, with guests raising the total to around 30 people. Brad has asked that we all try to arrive around 6:30 to give them time to get us situated - they’ll be roping off seats for us. I told Brad we may have as many as 30 people, but I don’t know if he’ll be able to save that many seats. Some guests may need to sit with the rest of the crowd. The Cultural Center is located at 77 E. Randolph (the northwest corner of Michigan and Randolph), and the Cassidy theater is on the second floor. I don’t know what the parking situation is like around there, but I imagine there are some self-park garages within a block or two. Salary Cap The in-season salary cap officially increases to $3.50 effective Noon on Tuesday July 15. However, keep in mind that you cannot make roster moves on that day just to raise your total salary above the $3.00 level. All mid-week moves must still be in reaction to an MLB roster move or a CFCL trade. The earliest date you can make free moves to take advantage of the higher cap is Friday July 18 (to be effective on Saturday). This Week's Featured League Each week (or close to it) I feature the web page of a fantasy baseball league that I’ve surfed across. Note that this is NOT intended to be a "review" of each site, nor is it intended to be a competition. It’s simply a way of exploring the fantasy baseball community beyond the CFCL and a way of recognizing those leagues with a presence on the Internet. When I started doing this, I had no idea it would be so hard to find decent pages to feature, but it's amazing how few there are out there. I come across a lot of good-looking sites, but they were last updated circa 1998. I may end up shifting gears a bit and cast my net a bit wider. I have found some awesome pages for non-Rotisserie style leagues - simulation leagues that play using Diamond Mind Baseball or APBA, for example. While they play a very different game than we do, the league pages are still very much worth checking out. In the meantime, revisit some of the past featured pages and be sure to appreciate all the time and effort that goes into them. The futility in trying to find a page worth featuring illustrates how hard it is to keep a site like these going.
Record Book Week Ending 7/11: Da Paul Meisters set a new weekly record in Runs Scored, besting the old mark held by the Reservoir Dogs by 2.
