Latest CFCL Bulletin and Roster Changes

"The beanball is one of the meanest things on earth, and no decent fellow would use it. The beanball pitcher is a potential murderer. If I were a batter and thought that the pitcher really tried to bean me, I’d be inclined to wait for him outside the park with a baseball bat." - Walter Johnson

Crazy Eights

What’s with all the 8-cent bids this week? Last week, we had two free agents go for .08, and this week we’ve got a plethora of .08 bids. Looks like .08 has supplanted .07 as the favorite bid when you want to "go that little bit extra" to ensure you get the player. .09 can’t be too far behind…

Meister Sighting

The fame of CFCL members continues to grow. Front and center in the Draft Weekend Photos on the Tout Wars site is our own Paul Zeledon.

As you’ll recall, Paul acted as the auctioneer for the Tout Wars’ American League Draft this year. Jason said Paul did a fine job and ruled with an iron hammer. Nicely done, Paul.

Crystal Ball

I neglected to mention it last week, but you’re really missing out if you don’t take a few minutes to read Matt Grage’s predictions for the 2003 CFCL season (well, at least for 7th place through 12th). Matt’s thoughts on how the bottom half of the 2003 standings will end up are insightful and very entertaining. Of course, the fact that the Copperfields aren’t predicted for one of the bottom six spots makes me immediately question his predictive abilities, but it’s a fun read nonetheless.

Be sure to read Matt’s post on the Message Board at: http://members3.boardhost.com/cfclpost/msg/1196.html.
