Troop 28 Committee Meeting Minutes

October 9, 2006

 

1.  Meeting called to order at 7:15.

 

2.  Reviewed and accepted September meeting minutes.

 

3.  Scoutmaster report.                                                               Ed Conklin

- The older Scouts are working with the new boys for their Scout rank advancements.

- Need to prepare for the upcoming Camporee and Court of Honor.

- Webelos crossover tentatively scheduled for 13 JAN 07.

- Webelos plan to attend our 10 OCT Troop meeting.

- Need to discuss JAN campout plans with the boys to address the anticipated new Scouts.

     

4.  SEP Roundtable report.                    

- SFF signup done. (Doran has the lead.)

- SFF materials pickup at the OCT Roundtable.

- Recharter instructions to be provided at OCT Rountable. (Walt has the lead.)

- Camporee registration and info was provided.

 

5.  Treasurer report:                                                                    Shawn Kopriva

- Checking account balance:                   $4,181.14

- Scout account balances:                      Pending info on fish fry participation.

- Scout store account balance:                ~$70.00

- Owed to Council for popcorn:                $697.45

 

6.  Fundraising Chair.                                                                 Shawn Kopriva                           

-  We sold $1073 of popcorn and recd $556.99 in donations at three Show-N-Sells.

-  Popcorn sales sheets due to Shawn on 10 OCT.

-  Contact made with WalMart rep, Mistletoe sales dates set, Webelos to assist.

-  Kristen to research thank you plaque w/photo for WalMart presentation.

 

7.  Training Chair.                                                                       Doran Fish

- Committee Challenge:  We will schedule in FEB following Webelos crossover.

- Matrix on training tracks for Scouts/Leaders:  Doran to provide to

- Current adult training records:  Kristen to provide updated adult training history reports via email.

- Availability of all upcoming youth and adult training:  Doran to forward training opportunities as they become available.      

 

8.  Advancement Chair.                                                              Kristen Dolphy                      

- Court of Honor scheduled for 24 OCT.  Planning is on track.  Work with Scouts to prepare at 10 OCT and 17 OCT meetings.

- CoH Advancements: Approx: 23 MBs, 3 Tenderfoots, 1 2nd Class, and several Scouts.

- Schedule of upcoming Boards of Review.  Doug Charles on 10 OCT.

- Eagle progress status: Awaiting Jeremy’s application submission.  Schedule counseling meeting with Mr. Barati and Mr. Sum during 10 OCT Board of Review.

 

9.  Membership.                                                                         Maria Augustin  

-  Membership drive is complete, we recruited five new Scouts.

-  Need to begin planning for Webelos JAN tentative crossover

-  Need to review/update Troop 28 roster info.

    

10.  Quartermaster.                                                                                                             

- Doran donated two patrol boxes.

- New stoves and trees were bought.

- Need to research new tents and lanterns.

- Trailer bearings were replaced, hub cover still needed.

 

11.  Chaplain.                                                                            Doug Pickett

-  Absent, no report.

 

12.  Chartering Organization.                                                       Doug Pickett

-  Absent, no report.

-  We can resume using the downstairs space for our Troop meetings, except for 17 NOV.

-  We need chartering org rep to sign committee member forms.

 

13.  Activities/ calendar:                                                             Ed Conklin

- Camporee, Oct 13-15:                          Ed and Kevin to lead.

- Court of Honor, Oct 24:                         Maria/Kristen/Bonnie/Huong to coordinate. 

- Nov 4 & 11:  Scouting for Food:             Doran to coordinate.

- Nov 17-19:  Methodist Retreat:              Shawn to coordinate.

- Dec 9, Aguille Rock climbing:               Walt to coordinate.

- Dec 9/10/16/17, Mistletoe sales:           Shawn to coordinate.

- Eagle merit badge in a day:                  Tentatively scheduled during JAN campout

 

14.  Old business.  None.

 

15.  New business.

- Due to date conflicts we will not attend Magic basketball game promotions.

- We will not support the National Family Week effort this year.  However, we need to place an increased focus on adding service opportunities during our “Ideal Year of Scouting” planning.

- Need to identify Scouts who need uniforms, address needs via: Scoutreach, fundraising, fundmatching, other Troop support.

-  Kristen to order new green Troop T-shirts, non-denominational logos.
