Have you ever defended
Boyzone when everyone else is
putting them down?
Do you know what it feels like to be at a BZ concert
waiting for the moment when the lights suddenly go
down and all you can see is the green glow sticks
streching back across the arena and all you can hear
is people sceaming for your favourite band?
Do you remember all the jokes, all the laughs and
every silly little incident they create when they're
together?
How many times have you been even more excited than
the lads themselves when the envelope is opened at an
award ceremony to reveal the word 'Boyzone'? How many
times have you laughed and cried with them when
they've come up on stage to collect their awards?
Have you ever fallen asleep listening to your
favourite Boyzone song? Do you know every single
word, every single note and every single beat of that
song off by heart?
Well you must feel exactly the same about the band as
we do. Now they're all off doing their own thing and
we couldn't be more proud of each one of them. We
love them. We want them to be happy and successful in
their chosen solo careers. However, that doesn't stop
us from missing the band that we've supported every
day for the past seven years of our lives. Like so
many of you have said, there ain't nothing like the
five lads when they're together.
We know that in order to have successful solo careers,
they need to dedicate a lot of time to them, and we
know that some of lads would prefer to concentrate on
their solo careers now, which they have every right to
do. They've said things will never be the same again
with BZ and we agree they shouldn't have to go back to
the gruelling schedules they've often had in the past.
But they promised us they'd still make time for the
band and get back together again sometime.
Unfortunately, over the past year we have been
continually let down as their plans for BZ get pushed
further and further back and become more and more
vague. Every time it happens, it hurts their loyal
fans.
All the lads have said they'd be happy to do something
again as Boyzone and we know for a fact that some of
them are quite upset about the dissapearance of BZ's
future plans. They all keep saying that they 'hope'
BZ will get back together next year and they'd 'like
to think' it will happen. So why can't they get their
act together and set something up?
When a band means the world to you, you can't just
rely on "might" and "maybe" and "hopefully
sometime,"
you need something solid to look forward to, something
that won't be reconsidered a month later. We don't
want assurances that they've not "split up," we want
to know when they'll get back together.
We feel that at the moment, it hangs in the balance
and they are still deciding what to do. A tour would
mean nothing if any one of the lads didn't truly want
to be there. We DO NOT want to force them into
something they don't want to do but none of them would
be here today without us and we feel it's our right to
make sure they know how WE feel about the situation so
that they can make the right decision. Think of all
that you've put into the band. If they don't want to
get back together then fair play, we respect their
choice, but if they do then we need to encourage them
by showing them how much it would mean to their fans.
Boyzone is nothing without Mikey, Keith, Stephen,
Shane, Ronan AND a couple hundred thousand fans and we
should have our say too!
All we want is for the lads to get together for a
handful of gigs next year and see where they want to
take things from then on. Boyzone have something
special, they're a part of us all and we'll do
anything to prevent the band from withering and dying.
If you agree with this email, don't just hope someone
else will do something, YOU DO SOMETHING! We've heard
a lot of fans complaining about how much they miss BZ,
well from now we don't want to hear any more talk, we
need to take action! Maybe we can't make a difference
but we're going to try damn hard and we're sure
something will come of it if we all work together!
If you want to help, go and listen to your favourite
Boyzone song and remind yourself how you feel about
them. That's the feeling we don't want to lose.
In order to show them how we feel, we need to get the
message across to them in as many ways as possible.
At the moment, we're starting with "lighter" press.
Please send a message explaining how you feel to some
of the main music sites who will be able to draw the
lads attention to the issue if there's enough
interest. Here's some addresses you can use:
Worldpop - [email protected]
MTV Asia (letters page) - [email protected]
Dotmusic (editor) - [email protected]
Top of the Pops website - [email protected]
Try writing to some of the "teen press" magazines as
well. They often print short concise letters with
issues which they will sometimes ask popstars to
comment on:
TV Hits Magazine - [email protected]
Smash Hits Magazine - [email protected]
Live and Kicking Magazine (letters page) -
[email protected]
Top Of The Pops Magazine - [email protected]
You can also contact the people who work for the lads.
Hopefully if there's plenty of support, they will at
least make our lads aware of our feelings.

Try not to annoy anyone though, no mass mailing, we
want their help remember!
We're also collecting a list of names to pass on to BZ
related people to show a sample of the level of
support. We need loads of names if it's going to be
effective so if you want to help, please MAIL US with
you full name and your country at [email protected]
Anyone from anywhere is welcome but please don't leave
your names on notice boards or mailing lists as we
won't be able to find them all!
Finally, we'd like to see other fans ideas of what to
do. If you want to set up a website or a section on a
website, contact the lads yourself, contact tv or
radio programmes, or papers, do your own letters or
'petitions,' contact the guys on a TV programme....
anything like that, then get to it! If you have any
suggestions for things we should be doing or contacts
we should have then please feel free to mail us.
Or you might think we're a bunch of @!"$*s and you
have a much better way of going about things, well
that's great, get out there and do it!
Thank you and keep up your support for the five
wonderful lads who make up Boyzone, whatever they
decide to do.
