Community Education: 2006 Sessions: The new CEVS initiative on education is being reorganised for next year. We are sendiong out invitation to community agencies to consult on areas to provide more information and changes to methods for best results. Local Goverment and agencies encouraged to send opinions/ideas.

Short courses-on working in the community- Start in Feb/March 2006 and run by Dr. Kuyini Ahmed Bawa- (See under Projects)

End of Year General Meeting: This is scheduled for  Friday 29th Dec/ Saturday 31st Decmeber 2005

Appointments/Change of Portfolios: The case management for children in the program is to be handled by Abdul-Razak Ahlassan (who recently returnd from Norway in collabortion with Richard Asalma.
The community edcuation programs will be handled now by a joint team of 4, comprising, the Program Manager, MrAbukari, Mr. Fadlu,  Mr.Richard, and Mr. Abdul-Razak.

Materials Support to Children/Parents' Meeting :
The New Year's program  is scheduled for the saturday 7th January 2006.Parents groups outside of CEVS who wants their children to particpate are invited attend.

August-September 2005

Community Forums on Education of Children with Disabilities:
The advocacy program for educating and meeting the challenges facing children with disabilities was launched in the first week of  August. The program funded by the Commonwealth Education Fund and the Northern  Network on Education consisted of  public forum and  radio discussions (in Dagbani  and English). The public forum held at the Catholic Services premises drew participants from the Ghana Education Services (Special Education Division), disability organisations, children with disabilites and their families and general public.
It is the intention of CEVS to continue to provide these community educational programs on disabilities into the future.
The partnership with the Northern Network on Education  will be strengthened to ensure that such programs are delivered more effectively through contribution of resources.
June -July 2005
DNET Learning Centre:  The executive body  of CEVS has finalised and presented the Learning Centre proposal  the DNET  for consideration. It is hoped that the joint project will go a long way to benefit many children in and around Tamale.
Children with Disability Education: CEVS has been provided with some funding to run programs in relation to advocacy for the education of children with disabilities  beginning July -August 2005. The modalities for this program will be worked out from 9th July through 20th July 2005. Activities will include our community education options as well as other media.
**Mr. Iddrisu Nassam (Administrative Secretary) is has been offered a job by the Danish -Ghana program  'School for Life'. He however remains a committed member of CEVS and would continue to offer his services.
April -May 2005
Partnership with DNET:
CEVS is in the process of establishing a working partnership with DNET. The  DNET  is an organisation operating by the net of people from Dagbon living in different parts of the world. It has provided a number of services to schools and clinics in the Northern Region since the late 1990s. The nature of the partneship is being worked out in 2005.
Congratulations on Graduation
CEVS congratulates Ahmed Bawa Kuyini (Member and Chairman of Board) on his graduation. Last month Ahmed Bawa Kuyini completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
January 2005
The DDA Calculator Project:
The DDA (Australia) project for 2004 was the provision of scientific calculators to rural senior sceondary schols in Dagbon.  As part of the partnership agreement, CEVS was tasked with the delivery of the items to the receipient schools. At a colourful ceremony held at the Vitin Secondary School in Tamale, on the 12th October 2004, the program manager of CEVS  Mr. Hudu Mumin presented the items on behalf of DDA to the schools. The function was attended by a representative of DDA Mr. Sintaro  who was on visit to Ghana and several media houses. The program was telecast on national TV and carried by local radio stations.
