I recently received this email:
Hello My name is Susan. My ex husband is a lost child he was taken off the reservation in or around the Brule area when he was approx. 3 months old. He is full blood Sioux. We tried to find his parent but no luck. We tried to have his records opened but the judge would not let them be.In those files are the names of his parents and his Native American registration card.He will never see this. We have tried all the sites and registries to no avail. But I just wanted it noted since no one else will ever know. Dale Henry Nachtigal/Roger Glen HighElk if full blood Sioux. He has looked for his birth parents for a long time and has given up. His mothers name was Harriet DrivingHawk and his fathers last name was HighElk not sure of the spelling. He was adopted off the reservation to people with the last name of Nachtigal. They were killed in a car accident when he was very young and went to several foster homes where he endured most every kind of abuse and torture.He was treated and raise like an animal until his Aunt from Oklahoma took him in.He later went into the Military.He has twin Daughters. He is a Sioux,he is proud and when he would listen to Native American music he would always have a very distant ,lonely look on his face. I just wanted someone to know he existed.
