Rescue 4
Cessnock District Rescue Squad trains one night a week.
Everybody trains together so that each members knowledge
and experience can be passed on to all members.
With each members expertise allows the squad operate with a
more diverse and efficient manner.


We train out of the Rescue Reference Manual 2nd Edition 1991
approved and written by the State Rescue Board
Catagories include:- The Management Act, Traffic Act, The Rescue Operator,
Duty Responce, Fire Combustion and Extinguishment, Electricity, First Aid,
Accidents, Heavy Vehicles, Industrial Domestic and Rural Rescue,
Rescue from Heights Depths and Trenches, Generators and Lighting,
Hand Tools, Hydraulics, Cordage, Knots Bends and Hitches, Ladders,
Stretchers, Liquid Petroleum Gas, Chemical Hazards, Lifts and Escalators,
Helicopters, Map Reading, Leavers Tackles and Mechanical Advantages,
Flexible Steel Wire Rope, Pickets and Holdfasts, Power and Hand Operated Winches,
Cutting Equipnent, Air Operated Drills Saws and Chisels, Air Bags, Breathing Apparatus.


Initial training takes about 6 to 9 months to complete then the operators are accredited
by the State Rescue Board. After the operator has been accredited they have to attend
at least 75% of training sessions to keep upto date and to maintain the highest level of skill .
