You go into the house after knocking and finding the door to be unlocked. You are calling out her name with your gun up just in case something has gone horribly wrong or something. You are slowly searching from room to room trying to find this little old lady. Finally you come to the kitchen and there she is just sitting in the chair and it seems as though she is asleep. You walk right up to her and check and she is dead. True the smell when you opened the door should have told you that she was dead but there are times when you just can't tell with old people.
Unbeknownest to you there is something watching you. There are some deep shadows in the kitchen and you get the feeling of eyes being on your back and you turn around and bring your gun back up not liking the prickling sensation on the back of your neck. When you turn around there are these bright yellow eyes staring back at you from some of the deepest shadows you have ever seen. The yellow eyes blink and then they start to move. You hold your ground until you are sure if they are friendly or not.
This large pitch black dog walks out of the shadows. This dog is so large that the top of his head is even with the back of the kitchen chair that the dead old woman is sitting in. He walks up to the woman and whines a bit as he nudges her arm off of the arm rest. You look at the dog and tell him, "sorry boy but she is gone and I think she's been gone for a few days now."
You back out of the house not wanting to take your eyes from the large dog for even a minute. You get to the front door and you make sure that it is closed because you don't want the dog out roaming the streets and you want the medical examiner to wait for animal control to take the dog away.
When you turn around to the squad car there is your partner with the passenger pulled out and he seems to be throwing up on the ground for no apparent reason. He wasn't drunk when you picked him up. You are about to help your partner get him back into the car when he starts laughing and he tells you that he can do any animal sound that you could possibly think up. Then he starts howling like a wolf and you get chills up and down your spine again. You finally get him into the back of the car and when you turn around to get into the car yourself there is that large black dog giving you an evil look.
You quickly get into the car without taking your eyes off of the dog for even a second. You then realize that your window is down and the dog is headed toward your side of the car. You start rolling up the window and these two large black paws reach up and are pressing down on the window. The dog is trying to bite at you and is snarling. The passenger in the back seat is laughing hysterically and howling when he can draw in enough breath.
Your partner starts driving the car away and the dog manages to keep up with the car right at your window and you ask him to step on it and so he speeds up and yet the dog manages to stay right with the car even though you are almost going 40 MPH now. Finally the dog drops off of the car and stops running beside it and you breath a sigh of great relief.
You get your passenger down to the precinct and question him on his behavior and he says that he doesn't know what came over him. You get his permission to draw some blood and run drug tests on him and he says yes and all of his tests come back clean. You are not sure what to do with him but you decide that since how there isn't anything else you can hold him for that you could give him a ride back to his house.
You get to his house and you help him up onto the porch and are going to help him get through the front door when you hear a familar growl and you turn around and there is that same large black dog snarling and staring you down. The man that you are helping just goes all hysterical again on you and you decide to leave him and you put your back against the house and start sliding along it trying not to give the dog any reason to attck you. You quickly and as quietly as you can raido that you need extreme back up and now.
You stop moving because the dog looks like he is ready to pounce on you. You wait for the backup to come and they finally get there. There is the swat team and everything because stories about that dog had gotten around. You tell them to shoot to kill for the dog if he even makes a move. You start sliding down the side of the house again and the dog goes to attack you and several bullets hit it at once. He falls heavily to the porch and twitches a little bit but then goes deathly still.
You have been so focused on the dog that you forgot about the man that you were trying to help get into his house. He is jerking about on the porch violently and you are sure that he is going to break his back or at least give himself whiplash or a concussion. Then you look closer and he seems to be loosing his skin and sprouting fur; you back up several steps with a look of extreme horror upon your face as you realize what you are witnessing. You then step back up to the once man, take out your gun and put it into his mouth and pull the trigger to make sure that you kill him. He stops all movement and falls to the porch. You look down at your hand that is still holding the gun. There blood and guts all over it and you notice a slice along the back of your hand; you look down at the man and his seems to be smiling for some strange reason.
You are ok other than the scratch. You have an EMT look at it, clean it up a bit and you go home from work...
