Brewers: No pain, big gain for Hardy

MILWAUKEE — Little did J.J. Hardy know that six days off florida keys vacation renta in June would prove to turn his season around. That brief vacation has turned the Milwaukee Brewers shortstop's season into a whirlwind.
Hardy believes that break — one he didn't want to last vacation rentals mission beach as long as it did despite an ailing left shoulder — turned him into one of vacation calendar template the most feared hitters and best hitting shortstops in the game over the past six weeks.
"I think that was it," Hardy said Saturday night before the Brewers' game against Houston. "When I was struggling, I was seeing the ball great but I couldn't hit it the way I wanted to because of my shoulder.
"Nothing's changed with the way I'm seeing the ball. But everything, especially my shoulder, feels good, so I'm able to hit it the way I like."
Hardy was muddling his way through the season, hitting just .248 when the shoulder became too much to bear during a game in Houston.
He was pulled midway through that game and then proceeded to miss flathead lake vacation rentals the next five games over a six-day stretch.
When he returned, Hardy's shoulder was not only better, but his bat was healthier. He has raised his average rivera maya adventure vacation 51 points to .299 in that stretch, not an easy task as the at-bats pile up after two months of play.
"(Third base coach Dale Sveum) was asking last night how many players in the league have hit .400 over two months," manager Ned Yost said of Hardy.
Forgive Yost disney world vacation homes theater room if he exaggerates a bit. mexico vacation all inclusiveSince June 1, Hardy has hit .358. Since June 18, the day he returned from his shoulder hiatus, he has hit .381 with 10 home runs, 27 runs batted in and 14 doubles. His on-base percentage in that stretch is .428. Some attribute Hardy's success to his return to the second spot in the order after spending most of the first two joseph oregon vacation months hitting seventh in front of the all inclusive paris vacation pitcher in Yost's lineup bull shoals vacation that had catcher Jason Kendall hitting ninth. While Hardy didn't like hitting in front of the pitcher, he said the move in the order is not the reason for his success. "I don't give that nearly as much credit," he said. "When I hurt my shoulder toward the end of spring training, I'd go up to rhode island vacation apartment rentals the plate not so much thinking about what I was going to see up there but if my shoulder was going to pop out. Now, I don't even think about that at all." Hardy's recent surge has placed him near the top of every significant offensive category among major league shortstops. He is second to Florida's Hanley Ramirez in slugging percentage (.491 to mailbox vacation vault .543) and second in OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging percentage) at .854 hawiian vacation to .923. Hardy also is third in batting average and home runs (14). Hardy was not in the starting lineup Saturday night against the Astros, just his second cheap vacation packages to paris france day off since beginning his torrid streak. Yost said he needed to get Craig Counsell some at-bats. Counsell had not started since July 12 and came in with just two pinch-hit appearances since the All-Star break. Homer happy The Brewers' home run streak came to a screeching halt at 20 games Friday night. But don't try to get Yost to equate the 3-1 loss to the Astros, one that brought their winning streak to an end at eight, with the lack of a home run. "Ever see anybody try to turn a pig into a horse?" Yost asked, apparently equating animal husbandry with a team's offensive tendencies. "People try to get creative with offenses, but we do what we do best and stick with it." The home run is a staple of the Brewers' offense. They came into Saturday night's game with 135, fourth in the major leagues and third in the National League behind Florida and Philadelphia. They have 35 in the last month and nine in the last week. During their home run streak, the Brewers hit 31 in those 20 games. Yost fire island vacation rentals certainly isn't adverse to playing "small ball," the term that describes how teams vacation homes victoria bc canada use the bunt, among other things, to manufacture runs. But he's not about to push his team into that mode of offense. "That's not our game," he said. "We don't do it early (in games). We'll do it late when we need it." 2008 Packers schedule 2008 Badgers football schedule Catch the Brewers blog Get the scoop on the Badgers and canaveral cruise vacation tell us what adult vacation resort you think • Man dies in rollover accident • Oates: The Packers have moved on, and so should everyone else • Packers: Favre staying away from training camp -- for now • Woman to coach Fennimore varsity boys • Brewers: Late rally against Astros liftscambria vacation rentalsMilwaukee into first-place tie • vacation rentals michigan Reader services • Temporary delivery stop • Guide to getting in the paper • Reach Staff • E-mail editor Ellen Foley • Want to work here? By DON FREDERICK AND ANDREW MALCOLM, TOP OF THE TICKET July 27, 2008 Barack Obama made an effort to defuse the flap surrounding a canceled visit to family vacation spots a U.S. military hospital during his overseas trip. But John McCain's campaign isn't about to let the matter rest. Indeed, the Republican elevated the contretemps to what passes for the height of political discourse these days: It's a key element in a new television ad. The 30-second spot zings Obama for making time for a gym workout while in Germany last week, but removing from his itinerary a stop at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. The ad continues: Challenges await Barack Obama at home In study, evidence of liberal-bias bias John McCain supports expansion of Americans With Disabilities Act "Seems the Pentagon wouldn't allow him to bring cameras. "John McCain is always there for our troops. "McCain. Country first." (The last line recently was unveiled on McCain's website as his campaign's latest stab at settling on a simple jervis bay australia vacation villas slogan it will stick with.) To take Obama to task more extensively over the canceled visit, McCain media aides also issued a release from retired Lt. Col. Joe Repya, a veteran of three wars, that scolds the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee for stiffing the troops while "flitting from one European capital to the next." Obama gave his version of the confusing chain of events that led to the cancellation in an interview that aired Saturday with Fox News Channel's Bill Hemmer. Asked by Hemmer about "taking heat" for the nixed visit and whether it was a mistake not to make mexico dental vacation the stop, Obama replied: "Well no, not at all. It was scheduled, we intended to go, and we got wind that there was some concern that this might be perceived as political because we were using campaign resources. And at that point, the last thing I wanted to do is to in any way distract the terrific work that's being done in terms of treating our troops, by getting it fouled up by a bunch of politics. . . . I didn't want it to be a distraction." But that's exactly what it's become for Obama, and it may linger. Here they come to save the day There is now officially nowhere to hide from this endless presidential race that's probably already cost $1 billion and still has 15 weeks to go. You've got presidential stuff pretty much everywhere, even on "Access Hollywood," which used to be a refuge for the politically oblivious until some Obama people persuaded the couple to let their little girls be interviewed on TV, which they now regret. Anyway, Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama are going to both be getting their very own comic books. You could call them graphic novels if they were longer. But they aren't. So we won't. They'll both have heroic covers, hands on hips, eyes cast on the distant horizon. And the stories of their lives inside -- and in case all of this political stuff seems too complex for anyone out there, it'll all be in drawings.
