Michael EdisonElementary & Middle School Classroom Teacher
My goal is to promote learning and help students to achieve their full potential. I am a professional educator with a wide range of life experiences that can be translated to students' learning. I have been a Cowboy, Missionary, Firefighter, Editor, Salesman, Business Owner/Arborist, Timber Faller and Rocket Scientist! Just kidding, on the Rocket Scientist, but, I did work in the production of Ammonium Perchlorate which is used as fuel for the Space Shuttle. Currently, I am pursuing opportunities to challenge myself living and working abroad. Many experiences have prepared me for this, such as living in South Africa, Alaska, and Micronesia. Also, I have traveled extensively in Europe, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. I am seeking a position in Elementary or Middle School. I am certified in Alaska, USA, for Elementary, Physical Science and Physical Education (Grades 1-8). In the classroom, you could expect to find patience and tolerance towards others while respecting cultural values and beliefs. It would be a community of learners with a shared-vision. A major component of my vision would include humanism over mechanism. Every student is a unique and special individual. I like to promote a relevant, objective-based (hands-on), student-centered education using differentiated instruction geared towards multiple intelligences. How's that for a mouthfull? My vision of the ideal school would be that the staff, students, parents, and community are working as a team towards attainment of a shared vision for all. The shared vision should include humanism, tolerance, and a world view.
