Michael EdisonElementary & Middle School Classroom Teacher
My goal is to promote learning and help students to achieve their full potential. I am a professional educator with a wide range of life experiences that can be translated to students' learning. I have been a Cowboy, Missionary, Firefighter, Editor, Salesman, Business Owner/Arborist, Timber Faller and Rocket Scientist! Just kidding, on the Rocket Scientist, but, I did work in the production of Ammonium Perchlorate which is used as fuel for the Space Shuttle. Currently, I am pursuing opportunities to return to Alaska and finish my Master's in Educational Leadership with the University of Alaska Anchorage. I am seeking a Bush school; as my administrator certificate will be for a K-12 school. Many experiences have prepared me for this, such as living over 10 years in the Alaskan Bush. I am seeking the position of "Generalist K-12". Although my Certification is in Elementary, I have extensive experience teaching a multitude of subjects in the High School as well. In the classroom, you could expect to find patience and tolerance towards others while respecting cultural values and beliefs. It would be a community of learners with a shared-vision. A major component of my vision would include humanism over mechanism. Every student is a unique and special individual. My vision of the ideal school would be that the staff, students, parents, and community are working as a team towards attainment of a shared vision for all. The shared vision should include humanism, tolerance, and a world view.
