Gracie made her show career debut at the age of 5 months when she competed with 130 puppies for Best in Match Puppy in Terre Haute, IN on April 19, 2002. She proved to be a "pro" at this young age, beating all other puppies for Best in Match Puppy. She is pictured here with judge Phil Frielich and owner Larry, who shows her exclusively. |
On October 6, 2002 Gracie competed in the largest terrier specialty in the United States, Montgomery Co. Kennel Club, in the 9-12 month puppy bitch class. She won her class and earned her first 5 point major. She also won Winners Bitch, beating 54 female scotties. If that wasn't enough, she proceeded to win Best of Winners, beating a total of 103 scotties from the classes. She is pictured here with judge Merle Taylor and Larry, handling her, of course. |
March 8, 2003 gave Gracie the opportunity to complete another leg of her championship journey at the Scottish Terrier Club of Dayton Specialty. She won the 12-18 month puppy bitch class and then Winners Bitch for another 5 point major. She is pictured here with judge Joan Schurr-Kefeli and her (becoming very professional) handler, Larry. |
April 11, 2003 found us in sunny Sacramento, California for the San Francisco Bay Scottish Terrier Specialty. Gracie completed her championship run under judge Clay Coady (pictured) by taking Winners Bitch and an Award of Merit for another 5 point major. Mr. Coady picked her out from a very large and prestigious class. Larry looks pretty doggone happy!!! |
The following day, April 12, 2003 Gracie competed as a Champion for the first time. Sacramento Kennel Club was the venue, Charlotte McGowan was the judge. Gracie went Best of Breed over many of the top Scotties in the country. So it was on to the Terrier Group ring.......was Larry ready for this pressure?? |
| Well, as you can see, Larry was up to the pressure. Gracie took a Group 3 placement in the Terrier Group. She and Larry both performed like pros ...... beating many of the top Terrier handlers in the country. This was a very prestigious win under Betsy Dale, who is a very well known Terrier judge. Gracie beat 373 terriers, placing her in the Top Ten All Breed statistics and Top Ten Scottish Terriers in the country. |

| Gracie continued to compete in the All Breed showring until August of 2003, maintaining her Top Ten Status in All Breed and Scottish Terrier Breed numbers. In September of 2003 she was semi-retired to have her first litter of puppies. She was bred to the Best of Breed winner of Montgomery County Kennel Club October, 2002, CH Whiskeybae Wager of Westpride, "Maverick". Gracie maintained her Top Ten Status even though she was taking care of her puppies. She finished 2003 as # 11 Scottish Terrier All Breed, # 5 Scottish Terrier Bitch in the country. A special thanks to Ron and Maurine McConnell who sold us this beautiful bitch (and spent many hour mentoring us on handling, grooming and many other things too numerous to mention), Brenda Miller & Maurine McConnell who bred her, Gary and Kim Stroede whose male "Dylan" sired her, and the many people who encouraged us along the way. It was quite a ride!!! Gracie will be shown in limited venues.........see her beautiful puppies on this website. |
