The 1950-51 team that Cerro Gordo should be very proud of. Their mark of 23-5 was the best in the programs first 20 years. They also were the first team in our schools history to ever win the Okaw Valley Conference Championship. It actually was a Co-Conference Championship with Sullivan. Both teams finished with 10 and 2 records.
In the Villa Grove Christmas tournament the Broncos defeated Longview in the semi final 58-41. In the Championship vs. Tuscola, the Broncos had a little more trouble, losing a close one, 54-50, in the championship game.
In the Decatur Regional we played Lakeview High School and won a close one, 48-47. The following night CG put on a great rally late in the game to beat St. Teresa 50-45. The Regional Championship game to was a good one, but in the end CG fell to Decatur.
