Our season is now over after losing in the regional championship to Gibson City. Our year turned out to be one of the best that CG has ever seen. A big thank you goes out to all our Seniors and players that contributed to the restoring the program to its winning ways.
Our 23rd win this season helped crown us the 07-08 LOVC Regular Season Champions. This win also puts us in an elite category of schools that have 1,000 overall program wins. Congratulations to all that have ever put a Bronco jersey on! You are all a part of this.
Also this year we won the 2007-2008 LOVC Tournament Champions. With wins in the tournament over Villa Grove, Tri-County, and Lovington. This effort in the tournament won us the Champaign News-Gazette team of the week.
Our team was also crowned the 2007-2008 Decatur St. Teresa TeamSoy Holiday Tournament Champions. We had to have tremendous efforts on back-to-back nights against two quality programs to win this tournament, but after a little hard work and determination we came out victorious. In the semi-finals we defeated defending tournament champion (4 years running) and defending state champion, Maroa-Forsyth to advance to the tournament championship. In the championship game we defeated the host St. Teresa Bulldogs by the score of 70 to 58.
We also are proud of our teams accomplishment of finishing 3rd place in the Macon County Tournament. It has been 11 years since the last trophey was won by CG in this tournament. We are very proud of our boys for this accomplishment. That effort was recognized by the local media. The Broncos were selected as the WAND Channel 17 Team of the Week. Congratulations to all of our players.
