Chapter 10: Silence Is Silver.

He was falling...

Falling helplessly into the deep dark void...

But, why was I worried?

Because there was no one to catch him...

\\ Daisuke...Don't stop talking to me, you hear? \\

\ But, Dark...There's nothing else to talk about...Plus, we've been having a mindless conversation for hours already. Including all those girls with colourful skirts you've flipped-- \

\\ I don't care. Just don't stop talking. \\

"But, I'm tired!", a certain redhead teenager moaned to himself as he slumped his weary lithe figure against the dark shady walls before running a free hand along his blood red hair. His wandering ruby red eyes glanced around the used-to-be familiar area around him, pondering on the remains of the Love Funfair. The cold night air was starting to give him the chills at that very moment and politely scowling himself mentally, Niwa Daisuke wished that he'd brought along his night jacket.

\\ I understand how you feel, but please, Daisuke...Bear with me just this once...? \\

\ Okay okay...I'm sorry, Dark... \

Silence followed Daisuke's last words as he trailed of with a slight feeling of guilt. The intimate conversation he was having with his alter ego was actually Dark Mousy's purpose of keeping Daisuke's attention all to himself to be on the safe side. The violet-eyed thief wouldn't want his host to drift away into the hands of the curse planted within him as to what happened earlier that day. He silently witnessed the smaller teenager innocently fumbling with the particular Love Ring on his forth finger without uttering a word.

The curse would allow itself to trigger deftly depending on its prey or host the soul chooses; in other words, his/her unstable feelings would be effected in any way possible. After 24 hours in counting, his/her loved one would be destined to confess his true feelings before his/her soul would drift away, disappear in the mist of tragic as what Maiden Aileen experienced.

A certain part of the information Hiwatari Satoshi presented haunted the violet-eyed thief's mind before he'd last met the blue-haired teenager. Dark had chose to drag his host's weary body home first before meeting up later. On his way, the legendary phantom stumbled into Daisuke's white fluffy pet who didn't hesitate to transform into his other form and purposed its duty as a pair of black wings in order to glide back without difficulty.

\\ Daisuke... \\

\ ...Yeah? \

\\ ..........Ha-chi! \\

Daisuke sweatdropped at the sneeze. He knew that the weather was a little cold and all, but Dark getting the sniffles before he did was a bit out of the picture.

\ Bless you. \

\\ Ch'...Someone must be talking bad about me. \\

The redhead proceeded to giggle softly at Dark's remark. He paused after a few light chuckles and continued to smile to himself in the dark, one of his free hands reached up to his head and gently ran through the blood red strands. With popped out its white adorable head from beside its master and innocently blinked up at Daisuke with cute adoring eyes. Lowering his hand, the redhead silently reached out for the little creature using the other and gave it light strokes as he scanned his brain for a decent reply.

\\ They were really worried... \\

Dark had started another conversation, but he faintly hid the hint of guilt behind his words. He couldn't help himself from keeping the true secret behind the situation they were about to experience not a moment too soon. He knew that Daisuke had all the rights to know about what was going on at the moment, but he couldn't bear to witness the redhead's sadness just yet. It took Daisuke a while before he responded to his alter ego's remark.

\ They...? \

\\ Your mom, your dad; your family...Everyone... \\

\ ...Is that so...? \

"...Are you worried too, Dark?", Daisuke asked as he gently rested his head onto the steady wall behind him. His pondering ruby red eyes studied the silent night sky [A/N : A part of the roof was destroyed...Okay?], tracing the imaginary line of stars as he used to do when he was young. The memories washed within him like a calm wave splashing onto the clean ocean's sandy edge and smiling to himself, Daisuke treasured it bit by bit in the cold dark night, accompanied by the heavenly stars above.

\\ I would be heartless if I denied the fact, wouldn't I? Plus, it's my fault that I got you involved in something like this-- \\

"It's not your fault, really. I wasn't strong enough to fight back. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to include yourself in the list of family members, Dark.", the redhead briefly interrupted his alter ego as he slowly shook his head in dismay with a light smile. He was yet to hear upon Dark's response, but all he got in return was the night's familiar silence for quite a while before the violet-eyed thief mustered up the courage to reply.

\\ ...I have no place among my hosts. \\

"Both you and I know that's not true. To me, you've always been a part of me; a part of us.", Daisuke answered back in correction against Dark's negative thinking. He could feel the legendary phantom's aching emotions from within, but the silence is starting to keep up with the both of them. From there, Daisuke slowly could hear a faint chuckle coming from his other half in the corner of his mind and being the sort of curious person he was at certain times, the redhead didn't even hesitated to ask the purpose of Dark's reaction.

"What's the matter with you?", innocent ruby red eyes blinked in confusion with a slight hint of nervousness in his voice. He felt the slight change in the violet-eyed thief's attitude as Dark started to catch back the usual tone in his voice and regain his arrogant personality, much to Daisuke's relief. With clambered its way onto Daisuke's lap and settled there with delight.

\\ Ironically, that creepy bastard sure knows his taste in guys. \\

"Hiwatari-kun? What are you talking about, Dark?", Daisuke could feel the heat rising up to his cheeks at the mentioned name as his white pet gave out a muffled 'Kyu?' upon its master's sudden reaction. As With made its way steady onto Daisuke's head, the redhead slowly curled both of his legs and pulled them close against his chest, hugging himself in the dark to reclaim body heat for the cold night air didn't seem to be helping a single bit.

\\ It's really obvious and I don't think I should keep anymore secrets from you, Daisuke. Well, you two are, let's say...Fated for each other? \\

After all those times Daisuke nervously forced himself to deny the stated fact, this time, he'd just let it be and accept it the way it was. The red-haired teenager didn't yell back in protest, much to Dark's amusement, but he silently smiled to himself as the dark shade of crimson slowly crept across his adorable face. A few of the child's blood red strands of hair covered a part of his face against the soft gentle breeze that swayed within the night's waltz. Although the surrounding was peaceful and quiet, the red-haired teenager was thinking of someone and that certain someone alone.

Hiwatari Satoshi.

He couldn't help it no matter how hard he scolded himself. Images of the particular blue-haired teenager whirled above his head, literally and just by remembering him, Daisuke's cheeks had a deeper adorable flush to it and he lowered his head in embarrassment, burying his face in his knees. His little white pet blinked upon its master's response with questioning adorable eyes before hopping off Daisuke's head, landing on the cold bare floor beside the redhead before peering up innocently. He recalled the countless times he blushed back then every time Satoshi made a slight contact with him; the countless times his heart made a joyful leap.

Satoshi asking him out.

Satoshi saving his life.

Satoshi holding his hand.

Satoshi winning a prize for him.

Satoshi embracing him.

Satoshi teasing him.

Satoshi encountering him.

Satoshi consulting him.

And what's more...

Satoshi kissing him.

That was when a certain thought hit him out of the blue, which practically made Daisuke jerked his head back all of a sudden. Even With jumped back a little in response with surprised eyes staring at its master. Daisuke started to feel worried about a certain someone who would be effected by his feelings. The certain someone who had always been there for him and stood as his other half from the very beginning.

Dark Mousy.

Daisuke recalled what his mother had told him about the legacy of Dark's existence and bit by bit, it started to bother him. He was worried if the violet-eyed thief would ever disappear once he had found true love. Just like the legend behind the Niwa family's portrait, years and years ago.

But, this was different.

Daisuke loved Satoshi, a Hikari to be precise. He wouldn't even want to think of the consequences that might happen to Dark and his legendary foe, Krad. Those thoughts circled within him a little too roughly and Daisuke felt as if he couldn't take it any longer. The thought of Dark vanishing just like that and never destined to reappear again made a heavy feeling of guilt flamed within him, totally ignoring the cold weather which bothered him a moment ago. Daisuke was afraid now; afraid that Dark would ever forgive him due to the fact that he'd choose his own love over someone special to him.

It was true that falling in love was a selfish thing.

The redhead deliberately shook his head to brush away those disturbing thoughts. Little did he knew that his chest was aching, a certain feeling thundering within him which hurt more than the energy blast he received earlier from a particular homicidal blonde. Daisuke lowered his head once again, but stared into the empty void with solemn pondering ruby red eyes before mustering up all the courage he had in order to ask Dark about the fact that was bothering him since the past few minutes.

\ ...Dark? \

\\ Mmhmm? \\

\ If I love Hiwatari-kun...And he loves me too...Thus, he actually knows about you...Will you...Erm...You know... \

\\ What? Be sealed once again? \\

\ ...Yes. \

The silence engulfed the area once again, keeping a concerned Daisuke in deep tense, rocking his small body slightly against the cold night breeze. With could only gaze at its master with worried tender eyes, tilting its white head every now and then to try its best in order to actually understand what the redhead was talking about.

\\ I'm sure there's no need of repeating the process of my existence, hmm? \\

"Is that so...?", With heard Daisuke mutter underneath his breath after hearing upon Dark's response. A simple crystal clear tear trickled down his flawless cheek as the red-haired teenager proceeded to bury his face again to reclaim his aching chest. His little white pet let out a small muffled 'Kyu...' as it gently bit the edge of Daisuke's warm velvet shirt and giving it a few light tugs for attention, but to no avail.

\\ It's how everything goes. Pretty pathetic, ain't it? \\

"But, you...", Daisuke's voice trailed off as he was hurt now. The truth hidden behind his alter ego's words was enough to make him realize the situation that they were about to face at any moment. Love portrays a strong barrier, no matter which gender gets involved and according to the legend of Dark, once his host's lover knows about his existence and accepts it without further a due, the violet-eyed thief would disappear once again and reappear as the legacy continues.

\\ Listen to me, Daisuke. Just remember that as long as you'd stay with the one you love, I will always be there. Hell, they don't call me a legendary phantom thief for nothing, you know. \\

"But, it just won't be the same...", the redhead sobbed a little as he silently pondered on Dark's blessing. He loved Satoshi, there's no denying that, but he didn't want to loose a part of him at the same time.

\\ I really hate to leave you like this, but I'm forced to do so. I can't protest as I don't have the rights... \\

Dark explained, ever-so-humbly, which drowned Daisuke's hopes, but all the smaller boy could do at the moment was stay silent and listen to what his other half had to say.

\\ But, you can, Niwa Daisuke. You're not as weak as you imagined. All I ask in return is to fight...It doesn't really have to involve violence or the battle of blood and galore, but your own hands can change your own destiny if you'd only search your strength to fight... \\

Upon hearing that, the smaller boy's head lifted up, much to With's surprise. The little white pet of his emitted a squeal of delight as it could sense Daisuke's spirit helping itself up once again and With knew very well that it was Dark who had lend a supporting hand to his host in order to return his courage back in its usual place.

\\ And please...Fight away your tears...Tears are nothing, but solemn signs of regret and sadness. You can never change your fate by crying. \\

The redhead carefully stood up to his feet as he wiped the tears using the back of his right hand, building every gauge of courage within him for once. Dark's sheer of confidence guided the smaller boy physically and mentally as he glanced at the huge clock tower, which stood not too far from where he was standing at the moment. Daisuke's ruby red eyes studied the clock's arms with a determined expression as he felt the wind swayed against his firm figure.

8:00pm

\\ Fight it, Daisuke. \\

And slowly, Daisuke did.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moon was high above again; rising with mystery and shining with the night's heavenly grace. A dash of its innocent, yet mysterious ray reflected over a particular single soul that trotted his way along the quiet silent roads. The cold night's whisper in the hidden form of a swift breeze tousled the figure's light blue hair and instinctively had the very few delicate strands tangled lightly against each other. Hiwatari Satoshi continued to ignore his front fringe that currently covered his eyes as he huddled his blue marine jacket close, seeping the warmth it presented him for the moment.
The unfamiliar heat surrounding his steady, slim figure send the feeling of being protected all over Satoshi for some odd reason. Despite the fact that he was all alone in the dark, he didn't feel the slightest bit of loneliness and because of that, his thoughts reverted towards a certain redhead.
Was Daisuke always this warm too?
Does he always feel occupied even in the exact same situation?
Is warmth the definition of love?
Do all tall tales have a perfect ending?
"This is so not like you, Satoshi...", he cringed mentally before he'd finally caught sight of the once-to-be Love Funfair, now lying in divine ruins as what's left of it. Staring in the position he was at the moment, Satoshi corrected his glasses before proceeding to miraculously struggled his way in, advancing towards the particular area which Dark Mousy had suggested them to meet up. Silently, he scolded himself for actually taking the violet-eyed thief's orders for once in his lifetime without even bother to protest.
"Damn you, Dark. Surely there must be a simpler way in?", Satoshi let out an inward sigh before he cursed silently underneath his breath as he stepped over a boulder.
"He couldn't be lying about the dilemma...His eyes were determined...", the blue-haired teenager thought deftly as he now made his way down an almost worn out path. His footsteps were aware of any broken glass or so in the way due to the fact that the area hadn't been cleaned just yet.
"Determined for Daisuke's sake...", the boy continued down the silent pathway, both hands dug deep within his pockets.
"...Should I be determined too?", Satoshi paused in his footsteps as his light blue orbs gazed upwards at a particular clock tower which stood tall and proud, slightly covering a part of the moon from Satoshi's point of view.
8:00pm
"...Should I finally confess my deepest feelings for Daisuke?", for a moment, the blue-haired teenager let the night's cold waltz surround him with a gentle grace. Satoshi silently inhaled the peaceful night air before his thoughts were snapped by a certain feeling from within and he knew very well what was bothering him.
It was actually who was bothering him; to be precise.
"...What do you want, Krad?", Satoshi asked, suddenly feeling the tense overwhelming him. True enough, a low amused chuckle filled a corner of his mind and the image of Krad appeared out of the darkness, huge white heavenly wings spread out tenderly to his sides inside his head.
// Good evening, Hiwatari Satoshi-sama. //
/ Whatever. /
// You never fail to amuse me, my pet. //
/ Could you just leave me alone for one night? /
// Well well...I'd reckon you've missed me? By the way, do you have the slightest bit of idea on where you are standing at the moment? //
/...It's none of your business. /
The boy knew that he shouldn't have replied ever so roughly because who knows what disastrous plans were up the homicidal blonde's sleeves. For a moment there, Satoshi started to feel uneasy and he felt his heart beat slowly thundering against his chest, feeling the pain suddenly rising to his head. Satoshi's glasses fell to the floor with a light 'Klonk!' and the blue-haired teenager was to busy battling for his strength rather than bothering to pick his asset back up. The pain he had to bear every time Krad was about to take over.
But, this time, it felt like hell.
"Erk!", Satoshi winced a little as he desperately supported his weight next to a dark rotten-looking tree and a free hand of his clutched his chest in an enduring pain. The boy was breathing in heavy heaps of air as sweat started to moist his forehead.
"Krad...Stop...", the blue-haired teenager muttered in a pleading tone, shuddering slightly as he felt the slow unbearable change within his very own figure overtaking him. His hair grew inch by inch, bringing the colour of golden blond to it and a pair of white wings grew out of his back, tearing through the clothing draped over his slim virgin body.
Satoshi struggled through breathing and coughing out blood. The dark fresh red drips stained the ground beneath him as he fell to his knees, almost loosing his consciousness. He knew Krad was enjoying this for he didn't want Satoshi to fall unconscious just yet. The homicidal blonde preferred a slow, sharp, torturing pain just as like at the edge of death, but Satoshi knew he shouldn't let Krad control him, not at this particular moment.
// Do you feel the pain, my pet? The blade seeping through your skin, slicing your veins. The sharp, yet screeching agony pounding your chest. What you're experiencing now is just the beginning, Hiwatari Satoshi-sama. Wouldn't you be surprised that your precious Niwa Daisuke will be able to experience a more sadistic torture? //
The boy couldn't stand the numb feeling any longer as he desperately reached out a trembling hand to a piece of broken glass not too far from him. Clutching the sharp crystal-like blade in his hand, Satoshi whirled it towards his exposed arm and shot the glinting end into his skin, plunging it deep into his flesh. Fresh red blood seeped out, distracting the pain he had to bear.
// Ah, yes. Bleed for me, my pet. The colour of red; blood and love. Makes sense at the same time, don't you think so? //
Gritting his teeth in anger, Satoshi stumbled to the cold bare floor. His senses started to black out and all he could hear was Krad's voice seducing him from the corner of his mind.
// I may be recovering my strength from the incident earlier, but don't take me for a fool, my pet. I know exactly what's going on at the moment and I'm definitely aware of it. //
/ Dai...Su...Ke... /
Satoshi's vision blurred and he could feel nothing as Krad took over him that very night. The night that would change their very destiny once and for all. A soft slow chuckle escaped the stranger's lips as the silent body covered with blood gracefully stood up and spread his wide heavenly wings behind his back.
"For you, my pet; after tonight is over, you won't be mentioning oh winged master's name ever again."
