Teserk Deseau
Ht: 6'1"
Wt: 185 lbs
Age: 28 yrs
Teserk was born the lowly son of a scullery maid in Duke-Marshall Tyderon's household. His youthful exuberance often lead him to be banished from the kitchens. He passed his younger days watching the Duke-Marshall's personal guard train in the castle courtyard, often getting underfoot. Rather than punish the boy, the Captain of the Guard decided to train him.
Teserk took to swordplay like a duck to water. It was soon evident that the young man was possessed of a serious talent, not seen in the area since the departure of the Weaponmaster Sterling, some years past. The Captain sought and received permission for Teserk to train with the Duke-Marshall's Elite Force. He soon surpassed even those masters in their craft. Teserk joined the elite force soon after - the youngest ever at the age of 16. The leader of the force, a half-dwarf named Colin de Trenchmar, treated the young man harshly at first, but soon grew to appreciate his quick wit and martial skill and promoted Teserk to his second in command.
When the Hobgoblin War ended, the Elite Force was disbanded. Its members were offered retirement and Teserk and Colin became swords for hire. Oddly enough, their first, and somewhat permanent, job was as bodyguard to the Duke-Marshall's daughter Theadina. The trio became friends, and thus, when the job ended, Teserk and Colin continued on as her unofficial personal guard. Since the position is not 'official' the pair are free to do as they choose, but they accompany Theadina in her travels more often than not.
Teserk himself is a happy-go-lucky kind of fellow. He is quick to find humor in the situations in which he finds himself - often at the expense of someone else (frequently Colin). He loves Theadina like a sister, Valinor like a brother, and Colin like the father he never had. His pleasant, disarming manner makes him easily likable by most everyone - especially the ladies. He has no real time for matters of the heart, however, as he is always looking for the next great adventure to challenge his skills.
Teserk is highly skilled in most soldiering weapons, with the exception of the bow (he prefers javelins for long distance attacks). He is a true master, however, in the use of his preferred weapon - the hand-and-a-half, or 'Bastard' sword - which he can wield either one or two handed with equal skill. His speed and agility allow him to use the large blade much as other men wield a rapier - with precision and lightning quickness.
