| The Circling Vortex It was wrong. But she didn't care. She was Eve and Eve did what she wanted. No questions asked. Except one. "What are you doing?" Mya whispered in her low, naturally sexy tone. But Eve knew better. Her friend had a dangerous streak and as inviting as Mya's outside appearance was, her insides were gruesome. Leave it to her upbringing and a very strange view of the world. "I'm scopin' out that massively fine looking man over there. Got a problem with it?" was Eve's short reply. Elmya Lotus followed Eve's gaze straight across the club to a man nestled in the corner of the bar counter. From the pouty look on his face he was sulking and trying to hide it by hovering over a half empty glass of beer and some funky looking long curly hair. "What about Christian?" "What Christian don't know, won't hurt him," Eve said teasingly. A mischievous glint shining in her eyes as she got to her feet. "I'm going to go cheer up that baby. Don't wait up." Mya could only sit and watch as her friend swayed up and sat next to the dark haired man. She apparently tried one of her straight forward lines because the look he gave her was unmistakeable. It wasn't the reaction Eve usually got but it was one Mya hoped her friend would get. The man, for all he was worth, looked at her like she asked him to suck a rotten egg. He then stood, said something close to 'Screw off' and moved to take his sulking to a corner table. Eve was unfazed however. She merely shot a look over to Mya, held up two fingers, and mouthed the words 'Round two' before moving over to sit with the man. And he honestly looked like he was going to be ill. But rather than getting up to move again, he paused. Intently listening to whatever it was Eve was saying to him then, to Mya's surprise, her friend turned and pointed in her direction. And the man's gaze followed. Pinning her right where she sat with the most intense look that she couldn't quite describe. Half ways between pain and hate to something close to curiosity. For a few seconds, that seemed more like an eternity, Mya was floored. Then like a door slamming, she remembered herself. Her dark eyes narrowed fiercely as she glared at Eve. Her friend, however, was still talking to the man that was peering at Mya intently. Those eyes of his, even from a distance, just wouldn't let her go. Like a trance. And it made her angry. Angry because it was the best emotion she could play on. One she had perfected over and over again. And running on it, Mya stood up abruptly and slipped out of the club. ***** "Over here, baby!" Eve said loudly, waving a hand in front of Scott's face to get him to focus back on her. He'd zoned right out the first opportunity she gave him not to pay attention to her. Maybe he was gay. Scott blinked slightly and looked at the annoying little blonde with a dark scowl. "Leave me along," he grumbled irritably as he stood up again. This time he threw some money on the table to pay for his half used drink and headed out to find that girl the Smurfette pointed out before. Once he managed to fight his way through the crowd of people gyrating on the dance floor to get to the parking lot he couldn't find her. There weren't any cars leaving and none of the people staggering around looked like her. Scott was just about to swear a blue streak and go off to find another place to sulk when he noticed a flash of dark red hair out of the corner of his eye. She'd apparently stopped to tie her hair back for some reason before heading around the corner out of the parking lot. Obviously intent on walking to wherever she was headed. He wasn't all that sure he actually wanted to talk to her just yet so he followed. Keeping back at a safe distance for a good three blocks when she suddenly paused and look back directly at him. Like she had ESP. There was no way out now. So rather than making a run for it, he moved towards her. Their eyes locked together and each step he took closer seemed to be sending charged energy through both of them. His footsteps slowed to a stop when he got up to her. Saying nothing as he looked her over. Long, dark, red hair. A soft yet strong looking face. Her body slim and muscled. Tanned with a tattoo covering her right shoulder that looked like a chinese dragon wrapped around some kind of flower. In a phrase: She looked dangerous. And while the stranger looked her over, Mya's eyes slowly scanned over his frame. He was broad. Muscled but not massive. His body looked solid but as she slid a look back up to his face and caught his gaze again she realized something that was even tougher than his outside appearance. Whatever he was harboring before with that pouty look of his was burried deep and there was no way to break through that soul-searing gaze of his. She wasn't sure how long they stood there just staring at each other before he broke her out of her daze. "What's your name?" Scott asked quietly. Not really caring about making small talk. He wasn't much for cheap lines anyway. He watched in mild curiosity as her defenses built up. Her dark eyes narrowing. "That depends on why you want to know." Scott's expression didn't break. Nor did he blink. Just gave her the simplest and most obvious response there was. "Because I do." The girl was obviously wary. Distrusting. But she gave in. "Mya." Scott merely nodded. Not bothering to offer any of his information as he peered at her. Mya didn't feel like this was the right time to ask either. Just stared up at him expectantly. The energy was still there. Crackling between the few feet seperating them. The curious look slowly left the man's face as Mya watched him step closer. Closing the gap. He was intent now. Darker even. His hands raised up to cup the back of her neck and pull her forward as he ducked down. Sealing his lips over hers in a slow, thorough kiss. His tongue pushing into her mouth, tasting her with a jagged restraint. She could sense, even as she responded to his kiss, that he was thinking the same thing she was. He didn't know her. She sure as hell didn't know him. But it still didn't seem like the right time to ask questions. And her body couldn't give a damn what her mind thought anyway. After a moments hesitation on both their parts, her mind didn't care either. Continue |
