WHAT STREAMING MEDIA IS?

Streaming media, also known as RealAudio and RealVideo are streaming audio and video presentations. Prior to RealMedia, we had to wait forever for a media file to download in order to play it. Streaming media clips can be played almost instantly at a 30 frame rate.

Streaming a clip, means sending small packets of information over a connection. On the other end, the user receives the information and plays the media clip bit by bit. The process is almost invisible to the user, except for a small amount of initial buffering.

Any Internet Server (IP - Internet Provider) can be used to stream audio and video clips saved and stored as files. Live content can be streamed only using a RealServer.

A RealMedia file or broadcast RealMedia content, must be created with the connection speed of the audience in mind. The maximum bandwidth a connection is capable of is greater than the average bandwidth carried across it. For that reason, 28 Kbps connections only use about 20 Kbps, while a 56 Kbps connection uses approximately 34 Kbps.

You can reach the widest possible audience, and provide all users with the best listening and viewing experience, optimized for their bandwidth, be it 28 kbps, 56 kbps, 100 kbps, 200 kbps, or higher, using SureStream. SureStream helps you create a single RealMedia clip for multiple target audiences, a clip that will automatically switch to a lower bandwidth during poor network conditions, or a clip that will be compatible with older versions of RealPlayer the audience may be using.

Here are some common bitrates for various end users: 28k modem - 20 kbps, 56k modem - 34 kbps, single ISDN - 45 kbps, dual ISDN - 80, xDSL/Cable modem - 220 kbps. Do not forget! The initial buffering of a clip is dependable on the end users bandwidth. If buffering takes a bit longer on a 56k modem, that doesn't occur because of you.

FINAL REMARKS::

Remember! A bit of writing, some pictures, some graphics and/or animated "gif"s, if any at all, may not convince a visitor of your Site of your offerings. Think about it!
