THE PRODUCER OF THE ESL PROGRAM:
The Producer of the ESl program is RomCan Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, also known as Century 21 Entertainment. RomCan Inc. produces documentaries, radio/TV show segments, corporate and educational tapes, commercials, personal demos and video profiles. RomCan Inc. services include pre-production, production, post-production, 3D computer generated graphics, titling, animation, special effects, logos, 3D rendered videoclip transitions, Web design, digital/analog video/audio into Internet video/audio format conversion, and tape editing/dubbing. ROM CAN INC. CORPORATE PROFILE: We opened our corporate doors as RomCan Inc. in mid-1998 with a camcorder, a CD recorder and some good ideas. George Anghelescu and Ion (John) Tofan, the company founders, made it their goal to make RomCan Inc. a production company. In the fall of 1998, the company acquired a non-linear, PC based, post production digital editing system, DPS PVR 2500. This system would eliminate multiple videotape recorders, edit controllers, switchers, mixers and other costly and inefficient equipment. The founders of RomCan Inc. faced the challenge head-on. In December 1998, George and John - produced An Immigrant, a one hour bi-lingual documentary, bringing a wealth of computer knowledge including, digital audio editing, 3D real time software and technical hardware support. By the fall of 1999, our in-house productions, An Immigrant and A Hundred Years of Lies were licenced to Videon Cable Systems Alberta Inc. for conversion on Cable 10 Vegreville, Northern Cablevision Ltd., Access Network (Alberta) and TLC (Canadas first coast-to-coast learning channel). Since then, we completed several other projects and continued to licence our productions. So, "An Immigrant" was licenced to the Eastern European Television in Vancouver, Canada, and several European broadcasters including, TVR International, an European broadcaster with nine-hour satellite time, covering Europe and a certain area of Middle-East. Our work in progress includes What We Havent Been Told - a documentary focusing on Canadian immigration, A World of Vices - a documentary on North American moral values, the Impaler- a documentary on Vlad the Impaler, widely known as Dracula, and a documentary on Romanian immigrants who fled Romania during the Communist regime. Facing a very competitive market, we needed to define our market position. After a lot of marketing contemplation and discussions, we decided to further in-house produce and, at the same time, offer services to people like us. So, in approximately 18 months, we had a business running, and came to count several in-house productions. We offered services to various clients including, Netnews Inc., of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, run by Donna Korchinsky, a former CBC reporter, now a freelance journalist. Our current statement confidently and successfully defines our market position -- "Work for yourself and people like you". |
