[Cut to scene backstage]

[Robert Marshall sits at a desk in his makeshift office, residing in a private box high above the ringside area. Its beautifully decorated with pine-covered walls, a private bathroom and small bar area, accompanied in the corner by a magnificent spread of various snack goodies. He watches out the large sliding plate glass window as the fans cheer on the other side for the current bout in the ring. He grins slightly as there is a knock at the door...]

[MARSHALL] Come in!

[After a moment, the door swings open, and Jeff Kushner steps in, wearing his traditional ring attire of khaki cargoes, and a black t-shirt. Marshall rises to greet him.]

[MARSHALL] Jeff, come in, come in. Please, have a seat...have something to eat. Would you like a drink?

[Noticeably suspicious of his motives, Jeff sits down and accepts nothing...]

[KUSHNER] No Marshall. Just tell me what you want so I can get to my match.

[MARSHALL] Jeff, please... You sound so distrusting. Simply because youre a member of the Authority, and a friend of Adam and Alex, does not mean, that we have to dislike each other. I am your boss, and Im concerned about your personal situation. Thats all...

[KUSHNER] Marshall...Robert... Youve never given a sh*t about me before, why would you now?

[Marshall wraps his arm around Jeffs back, which obviously bothers the young Toronto native.]

[MARSHALL] Jeff... youve been taking a lot of risks lately... You and Python have put on a great show for the fans, but I want you to think about your career now...your life. Certain...opportunities...certain...new avenues may open up to you in the near future, and I wouldnt want you to risk those chances. Simply because Adam and Alex and the rest of the Authority clan are going downhill, does not mean you have to roll with them.

[KUSHNER] What are you talking about Robert?

[MARSHALL] All Im saying Jeff, is not to let your so-called friends drag you down. You can move higher up the ladder, and be bigger and better than ever before... if you remember who can help you, and who can hurt you. Well talk some more later... in the meantime, have a snack, a drink, enjoy the room, watch the show, and then head down for your match. If you need anything, just call... Ill be by to see you later, and we can go over in more detail what Im talking about...

[Jeff could only look on as his boss, and until this moment, enemy, Robert Marshall patted him on the back and headed out of the room already on his cell phone. Kushner just looked on, confused and surprised.]

[Fade out.]
